One More Chance novel Chapter 92

~~~The one who said that he'd rather roam. The one who said he'd rather be alone. If you could only see me now. If I could hold you now, just for a moment if I could make you mine. Just for a while turn back the hands of time. If could only hold you now. I've been too long in the wind, too long in the rain. Taking any comfort that I can. Looking back and longing for the freedom from my chains, lying in your loving arms again~~~
Coffee Bean shop...
"Oh, holy crap!"
I frowned when I heard Jack scream behind me. I was currently at the counter and helping our employees collect orders from the customers.
"Why? What's going on with you?" I asked glancing at her.
"Haist! I forgot to bring those delivery receipts I brought home last night."
"Why did you bring them home?"
"Because I wanted to double-check the prices of the ingredients we got from the supplier, but gosh! Why the hell did I forget to bring them?"
I chuckled as she complained and even stomped her foot on the floor.
"Where are you going?" I asked as she got up and started arranging the stuff on her table.
"Well, I think I have no choice but to get them." She took her phone and walked over to me to kiss my cheek.
"Hey, why don't you just ask my driver to pick them up?"
"Oh, thanks, but it's okay. I'll just go and get them."
"How about asking Gary to bring them here? I know he's home because---"
"Gary?"
"Hmhm." I nodded.
"You mean your brother's driver?"
"Yup. Dale told me he wasn't going to ask Gary's service today, so I'm sure he's home and watering his plants in the garden." I mentioned 'his' and not 'the' because the guy really loves to plant, so my mother gave him a nice spot in the garden to plant whatever he wants to plant.
"No way!" She scowled that made me laugh at her.
"And why not? I don't see any problem with that?"
"Haha... in case you have forgotten, he's the driver of your narcissist brother and he, of course, is loyal to him. How do I know if he wouldn't tell his boss that I asked him a favor?"
"And so, if he tells his boss? What's the matter---"
"Huh! I don't want to have another conversation with him!"
"Alright." I shrugged, but I couldn't help but laugh as I forgot to mention --- no --- I didn't mention that it's not just the driver of my narcissist brother's is at home, but also him.
He told me earlier this morning that he wouldn't need Gary's service --- because he would like to spend time with mom and Cali at home for the whole day.
"Hmmp! I have to go, bye."
"Bye..." I bit my lip when I saw her leave and opened the glass door. She waved her hand before closing it behind her. "Hmm... good luck, future sister-in-law," I muttered to myself before I continued what I was doing before she interrupted me.
I was busy arranging some stuff on the counter when I felt someone standing in front of the counter. And since I wasn't looking when he came, I immediately greeted him and asked for his order before I could even look at him.
"Good morning, Sir. Can I take your order---" but my words hung in mid-air when he took off his black cap and sunglasses and I recognized him. It's Luke.
He's wearing a white shirt and jeans... casual attire... which I haven't seen in a while.
"Good morning." He flashed me with one of his signature smiles which, if I remembered correctly, is one of the things I fell in love with him for.
I bit my tongue hard enough to wake me up from my old illusions and mentally shook my head.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him, slowly letting out the breath I was holding when I saw him.
"Because I haven't had breakfast and I want to eat something sweet."
I gulped when he smiled again, but I didn't avoid his gaze. Maybe the reason I didn't recognize him in an instant is that he isn't using his favorite perfume.
"So what's your order, Sir?" I asked giving him a stretched smile.
"I would like to order a Chocolate cookie crumble crèam frappuccino with two slices of Chocolate caramel fudge cake and a Pistachio coffee frappuccino with a slice of Matcha blueberry cheesecake."
I couldn't help raising an eyebrow after reciting his orders as they were for two people. Is he that hungry?
"Nope, I'm not that hungry." He shook his head and I gasped silently as he answered my silent question. "Those are for two people, for me and for my girl."
My mouth hung in surprised upon hearing his last word. Suddenly I felt a pinch deep in my heart and I couldn't exactly explain that feeling. But before anything could across my head, he stepped aside and pointed to the 'girl' he spoke of sitting in one of the tables near the entrance.
"I mean, that beautiful girl in a pink jacket and black boots." He said not looking at me but at the 'girl' who's none other than my daughter... our daughter.
I don't know but when I recognized who the 'girl' was he referring to, a light chuckle escaped my lips which made him stare at me for a few seconds.
