The two of them were husband and wife now, but it was all for the contract, so naturally, they were supposed to sleep in separate rooms.
She was never picky with where she slept, and this little sofa was comfortable enough. At the very least, it was better than her single bed in her old place, so she thought she’d be able to fall asleep soon enough.
But the sound of running water continued to stimulate every one of Blanca’s nerves. She stared at the doorway to the bathroom, wide awake.
Everything that had just happened was just too ridiculous.
She was married. To a man she’d only known for three days!
And that man was just one flimsy wall away, inside … showering.
Realizing that, Blanca’s face burned.
Everything that had happened inside the bathroom seemed to replay over a reel in her head…
Flashing still before her were Matthew’s deep eyes, his hot breath by her ear, the warmth of his arm on her shoulder.
He was pretty handsome, and kind to go with it…
Thinking of all that, Blanca hugged the blankets to herself, buried her face in them, and shut her eyes.
Sleep… sleep…
Just quit your weird thoughts, Blanca!
It was just that her hand had been forced! It was all to find her parents earlier! That was it, yeah!
When Matthew came out of the bathroom in a robe, he saw Blanca curled up like a rabbit in the covers.
She’d fallen asleep before she’d known it.
Matthew came up to her, looked at her slightly trembling eyelashes and her fetal form, as if she lacked even the most basic sense of security, and his heart softened.
The following morning, Blanca woke up and found herself sleeping in a bed.
She sat bolt upright, looked to the side, and found Matthew next to her, also opening his eyes just now.
“Wh-wh-wh-why are you in bed too?” Wait, that wasn’t right. “I mean, why am I in bed!”
