Please Be Gentle With Me Mr Grant novel Chapter 42

After lunch, Matthew didn’t make Blanca stay.

After walking out the office, Lisa brought Blanca out. This time, Blanca heard clearly what the others were saying about her.

“Is this the rumored Mrs. Chairman? She doesn’t give off a ladylike aura at all…”

“Yeah, why’d the chairman take a shine to such a person?”

“Didn’t you see the magazine today? The chairman even went on a date with her in the morning, and she was wearing just that!”

Hearing the swell of public opinion, Blanca’s footsteps slowed.

Getting into the elevator, Lisa slid in as well just before the doors closed.

Blanca greeted Lisa with a well-trained gesture. “Good afternoon, Miss Anderson.”

“…good afternoon.” Lisa hesitated, then showed a professional smile. “Don’t mind those comments from earlier, Mrs. Grant. The chairman’s young and charming, and colleagues in the office tend to fantasize about him. Now that their fantasies have shattered, they’re attacking you for it.”

That did make sense.

After all, Matthew wasn’t just one of the most eligible bachelors in Oakshire, he also held a whole city’s economic lifeline in his hands. With such an excellent specimen, everyone might have been better off if he’d stayed single.

Now a random pedestrian like her had just snatched him up, so of course the masses were furious!

“So that’s what it is. Then, Miss Anderson – do you look Matthew as well?”

“Oh? That’s…” Lisa didn’t think that Blanca would just say that out of nowhere, and hurriedly explained, “Since Mr. Grant is so brilliant, as his subordinates, we naturally look up to him. Still, we only admire him at work and learn from him; that’s all.”

Blanca smiled and didn’t say anything else.
