Blanca looked at the man before her in shock.
His entire being emanated with a cold aura, like some divine, unoffendable entity. Even she felt a surge of chill from him.
“Get out of my office, Elizabeth.”
Matthew’s tones were cold. He didn’t like it when people challenged his authority, especially… a woman.
Blanca belonged to him. She was his wife. He’d admitted that before media, and now that Elizabeth was here picking on Blanca, wasn’t that the same as throwing a gauntlet in his face.
“Wh-what did you say? Matthew, you’re chasing me off for this woman? I grew up with you; how could you treat me like this?”
Elizabeth pointed at Matthew and Blanca, stunned.
She’d come back to the country because she’d heard Matthew was getting married. She felt like dying to wait any longer. When she saw Matthew treat Blanca so well, her jealousy exploded!
“Are you done?” Matthew scoffed, mockery in his eyes. “If you are, get out.”
Then he shot a look at Curtis. Elizabeth didn’t want to leave, of course, but couldn’t stand up to Curtis by force. After a while, the office fell silent.
In the empty space of the room, an awkward atmosphere lingered.
Blanca’s emotions were all tangled. She might have been poor, but she wasn’t about to let people walk all over her. But back there… had Matthew been standing up for her?
“Come here, let me look at her face.”
Matthew reached out and took Blanca’s chin in his hands. The soft warmth on his lips still lingered. Blanca’s brow furrowed and she reflexively tried to push him off, but Matthew had already swiftly grabbed her hands and tossed her bodily onto the sofa!
