Matthew pushed open the door of the study with his phone in his hand. There were all kinds of books on the bookshelf and the chandelier was shining brightly. Everyone who walked in could tell the owner must have been collecting these even since he was a boy. Most books that were put up front were about business.
“How did it go?” Matthew asked in a deep voice.
The person on the other end was silent and uneasy when he finally spoke after a while, “Mr. Grant, we went to the hometown of the family but...few people were left in her family. It was said that she moved here with her grandma twenty years ago. The villagers had only seen her with her grandma. None of them had seen her parents. I’ve already sent all the info to you.”
“Okay.”
They said they never saw her parents. What if...
Were her parents dead or...
Matthew frowned. Then his computer rang.
He knew it was the email. He went to the desk and checked his mailbox.
“Blanca Roach, 22 years old, high school dropout...”
The email told everything about Blanca and Matthew was thinking fast in his head. He heard her said that she didn’t finish high school. But...It was the 21st century. She must be extremely miserable and poor back then.
He felt something in his heart.
Matthew kept reading the email and his hands tightened on the mice.
When Blanca was in high school, her grandma had a serious disease and there was no cure for that. She had no choice but to steal. He remembered that there was a helpless high school girl and he felt like his throat was choking.
If she really was related to that person, she must feel devastated then.
