Chapter 59
“What do you think?” Wesley‘s words seemed to have an underlying meaning. “Mr. Bateson, love is fleeting. You‘ll have to catch it in time. If you miss it, there is no turning back.”
Trevor understood Wesley‘s message loud and clear; Wesley satirized that Trevor did not know how to cherish Emma.
Not wanting to lose, Trevor retorted, “It‘s good that President Zurich is pursuing love, but shouldn‘t there be a limit on how young your lover can be? Don‘t you feel ashamed that you‘re so much older than her?”
Adam was too young while Wesley was too old. Why was Emma always surrounded by these kinds of men?
However, Wesley replied leisurely, “Love has no gender and race. Naturally, age isn‘t a factor as well.”
This made Trevor scoff. “Then, I wish you all the best.”
Of course, he didn‘t mean it.
“Well, I wish you and Miss Sanders eternal love,” Wesley said faintly.
When Crystal was brought up, that was the last straw for Trevor, and he hung up the phone angrily
Wesley definitely mentioned her on purpose, knowing it was Pandora‘s box that shouldn‘t be opened.
In Susanna‘s Alphard, Emma collapsed into the passenger seat. Fear overwhelmed her as soon as she thought about what had just happened.
On the other hand, Susanna praised Adam excitedly, “Adam is amazing! He really stood his ground for his lover.”
“It was great! That pervert deserves to be beaten into a pulp!”
However, Emma quickly stopped her. “Enough. If this matter is exposed, Adam will be ruined.”
Susanna disagreed. “That‘s not an issue. If anything happens, he can just go home and take over his family business.”
This confused Emma, but Susanna grinned and leaned forward, saying, “You have no idea, do you? Adam is, in fact, a second–generation nouveau riche. His family is
wealthy.”
Emma did not know about this; Adam had never mentioned his family, and of course, she couldn‘t have asked such a question.
Susanna and Adam had been on a show together before, and they were cast opposite each other. Hence, she knew a lot more about him than Emma.
Then, Susanna asked with a smile on her face, “So, are you sure you don‘t want to consider Adam? He almost threw away his career for you.”
“No, I‘m not even going to consider him!” Emma simply replied.
Ignoring this, Susanna continued to persuade her, “Dating someone younger isn‘t a bad thing.”
At this point, Emma couldn‘t be bothered to bicker with her anymore. Susanna knew Emma was the type of person who was serlous and did not know how to play mind games.
Susanna changed the subject. “What about President Zurich? Would you consider him?”
Before Emma could even reply, Susanna began to upsell Wesley again. “Let‘s not talk about his looks; even his money, temperament, and personality are great. The two of you are gentle and easy–going. You Iwo will be very happy together.”
All of these were making Emma‘s head hurt. “Why are you so keen on me finding a man?”
Hearing this, Susanna lowered her eyes and mumbled, “Once you have a man, then that tramp, Crystal, would leave you alone.”
Emma‘s friendship with Susanna touched her heart, and her eyes immediately reddened.
Just as they were about to arrive at Emma‘s place, she received a call from Christopher
“Emma, have you been busy?” he asked kindly. “I‘ve been occupied with my script. Is there anything I can help you with?” she answered truthfully.
The old man was aware that she was a screenwriter now. Back when she was abroad, he would always call her from time to time, and the topic of her being a screenwriter was brought up.
Christopher knew that Emma had a decent job and knew how happy she was, so he was generous with his praises for her.
It was also at that time that she could feel that he really loved her.
