Alex looked at Sammy incredulously, as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard.

"You can't be serious, Sam! Brad doesn't want to get a divorce from Nadine at all! If she shows up later and actually goes through with this, Brad will never forgive you. He's not going to be friends with you anymore. You're practically digging your own grave!"

Alex had been keeping up with all the drama between Nadine and Brad online. He was well aware of just how much Brad didn't want the divorce. He couldn't believe Sammy had just come up with such a ridiculous idea.

He sprang from the couch in a panic, rushed toward Sammy, and grabbed him by the collar. "What on earth were you thinking? You know full well that Brad cares about Nadine! He's just too proud to admit it.

"Once he realizes how much she means to him, he'll come around and be with her. Are you trying to get Brad to hate you for the rest of his life?

"No, this can't happen! You need to take back that stupid idea of yours!" Alex grabbed Sammy's phone and stuffed it in his hands. "Call Nadine and tell her it's off."

Alex genuinely valued his friendship with Brad. He was certain that if the divorce went through, especially if he and Sammy had played a part in it, Brad would resent them for the rest of his life. Their friendship would be over for good.

Sammy, on the other hand, remained calm and composed. He gently peeled his hands off his collar and chuckled. "Brad's in this state because he wants Nadine to come over. You're still too young, Alex. Do you really think a drunk man can even hold a pen?"

As soon as his words sank in, Alex felt as if a lightbulb had gone off in his head. He smacked his own forehead and looked at Sammy with admiration. "You're a genius, Sam! I can't believe you came up with such a good idea! I've got to hand it to you, you're the only one who could pull this off!"
