There was no way Nadine would console Brad. He had brought this entirely on himself, so there was no reason for her to feel sorry for him. In fact, she was more amused than anything. If he weren't sitting right beside her, she would've burst out laughing by now.
Once she had coaxed him into holding the pen, she wrapped her hand around his and guided his hand to the signature line designated for the husband on the divorce agreement.
Her heart was pounding at that moment. She was so close. Once she had Brad's signature, she would be free.
But perhaps she had celebrated a little too soon. Before he could even write a single letter, Brad's hand came to a halt and hovered midair.
Brad turned to look at Nadine in confusion, his brows knitted together in a deep frown. "What kind of game is this? I've never played this before. Don't you dare trick me, Nadine!"
Nadine wouldn't have bothered coming over if he wasn't wasted. What little sense he had left constantly reminded him not to push her buttons any further.
Her heart, which had soared with anticipation, plummeted as she watched his hand freeze midair. The bitter taste of failure filled her mouth. She had been so close! Just a little bit more and she would have succeeded!
Nadine thought he had sobered up. His words scared the crap out of her, and her hand trembled, causing the pen to slip and fall to the ground. For a moment, she wanted nothing more than to strangle Brad.
