“Ma‘ am please…please hear me out, if I fail to bring you back, my job will be at stake. From now on Sir Alex is not our boss anymore and he is thrown out of the board of directors, even his shares are taken away by his grandfather.”

I froze, the phone still pressed to my ear.

“What do you mean thrown out?”

“Since Mr. Alex has decided to marry your sister, all his assets are seized. We will offer you a position that suits you the most in Paris ma‘ am so please don’t refuse.”

The call hung up and I stared at the phone in shock.

Walking inside the gigantic office in the Paris central, my heart thrummed erratically as I approached the glass door. Part of me expected – dreaded – to see Alex standing there.
