Chapter 86
“Do you love Carmela, do you want to be with her?” Leila fires his very own words back at him.
How many times does she have to tell him that Kelvin is just her friend? There is only one man she has ever had feelings for and that is him.
If Tatum and Kelvin both had guns to their heads and she had to choose one to survive, as much as it would hurt her to mak the hard choice, she would painfully choose Tatum because life without him would be meaningless.
Even if she knows deep down in her heart that Kelvin would willingly give his life for her.
Sadly, she cannot say the same for Tatum.
Instead of owning up to his mistakes and accepting he was wrong to banish Kelvin for Carmela’s sake, he is busy asking her silly questions.
Tatum replies to her question in a cold voice, his grey eyes hard, yet full of hurt. “If I wanted to be with her, I would be married to her, not you.”
He feels a pang in his heart. Does Leila still not get it?
The only woman he desires is her, she is the one he wants to be with.
She is his ultimate and only source of happiness, his joy on his gloomy days, his light when it’s dark, the only one who ever makes him feel at peace.
He cannot live without her.
Tatum’s words reach Leila ears and as if coated by magic they slowly begin to wane her anger.
This is the trap that she cannot escape, the web that has ensnares her, those reassuring words and the certainty with which he reminds her
that he chose to stay with her and not Carmela is something Leila’s heart cannot fight against.
Even if his actions falter, she cannot hold it against him because she loves him too and wants to spend the rest of her life with him, in love, peace and harmony but right now, she needs to save Kelvin.
She fears for his life and he is still her only hope of exposing Carmela because as long as Carmela’s evil intentions and der is remain in the shadows, she can never get the life she wants with Tatum.
