Emily stood there, paralyzed.
From so far away, she could see how Simon's remarkable features mirrored in every inch of Addy's eyes, filling her so much that she just could not have enough of him.
Emily was Simon's wife by law and she has justifiable reasons to storm in, yet Emily felt guilty instead.
She staggered backward and when she turned, the broth she cooked up to help with the hangover spilled out of the bowl. The hot liquid scalded her that she winced with pain and she could not help but hissed quietly.
Like a whimpering dog fleeing, she quickly rushed in and placed the broth on the coffee table before scurrying away.
The door clicked and Simon sprang to his feet in an instant. He turned his head around and to no surprise, found Emily missing. She thought of going after her, but Addy tightened her grip on his hand and stopped him.
Simon frowned, but he did nothing to resist. He peered at her from above, his eyes filled with conflicted emotions.
"For five years alone in Newley City, I think of you every day, every minute, and every second, Simon! I was wrong and I cannot leave you again!" Addy's face was a full red from drinking too much and the look she gave him was enticing. "I know that five years ago, because of my career and dreams, I refused to come back with you. You got angry. You became resentful. But I'm back now. I have decided to leave the ballet company. I'll go wherever you want me to. If you want me to give up ballet, I'll even do it for you! Just your word, and I'll do as I say! Please!"
"I know I have been mistaken, Simon. Forgive me, please! For five years, I have only ballet and no one else! I think of you and only you! Whenever I do, I'll go back to Columbya and walk around the places where we used to have been! I might not have come back with you, Simon, but I really do love you!"
Simon listened to her in silence. Quietly, he muttered, "You've had too much to drink, Addy."
"No, I did not!" Addy insisted, shaking her head wildly. She got up suddenly and grabbed his hand with both her hands. "I've drunk almost a half bottle of vodka, but I've never been any soberer than now. You're here; right in front of me. I can touch you. I can feel your warmth. Not the phantom I see in my dreams every night in my dreams!"
Addy strained to raise her head. Her almond-shaped eyes stared at him without blinking. "Do you not remember your vow, Simon? You promised to marry no one else but me. We made a promise when you came back here. We'd give each other five years. After that, I'd come back and we'd hold hands and walk down the aisle and the rest of our lives together."
"Addy," Simon cut her off, "That was your own promise."
"Myself?" Addy stared at him with a blank look.
Simon looked deep into those dazed eyes of hers and said quietly, "Before I came back, I had asked you repeatedly to come back with me. But you refused. I told you before: if I leave and you refused to come with me, that would be the end of us. But there you stayed in Newley City!"
"Simon..." Addy begged, her eyes now wet with tears.
"Addy, I'm married," Simon said very slowly and quietly.
Addy froze. Simon took the chance to slip his hand from her grip bit by Addy was stunned, and Simon took the opportunity to take off his big hand bit by bit. His pupils contracted for one fleeting moment, then he sighed, "Don't drink so much in the future. Take this as advice from a friend or your doctor. Alcohol is bad for your health and is worse for your stomach. It's getting late, so try to get some rest. I'm going now."
The tall and lean figure swiveled around to leave, and there Addy Swan sat, alone and sobbing, on her bed.
Emily was outside. She had left the hotel about a half-hour ago and was roaming the streets alone, kicking away pebbles that must have fallen out of the flower pots by the streets to vent her frustration and irritation.
Dammit!

Hate deception and Abby and Dylan take the cake ,ugh...
NO!!! Tina belongs with Wilson…. Let Dylan and Abby get together...
Wow, once again the villain messes up the true love, Abby needs to go back abroad. And Tina’s true identity as the daughter of Bill Ambrey needs to be exposed! Then the families can “convenience marry” !! Abby is a witch....
Too bad Wilson can’t figure out that his and Tina’s ex’s and his cousin Desmond are conniving creeps!...
Anthea is so stupid, lying and leaving the man who loves her more than life itself. 🤬...
She deserves to be unhappy, being with someone she doesn’t love because of resentment for the exact thing she is doing, hopefully she ends up with no one. Calvin is a wimp and doesn’t love her, just wants a wife to please his family....
So the same basic story as Simon and Addy but stupid Emily is going to marry him! What a hypocrite! Ugh...
Emily gets more stupid every chapter, when did she pickup Calvin as a fiancé!!?? This story line is awful….very sad to do to Simon what she “thought” he had done but didn’t. She is truly a dumb woman. Simon never loved or really even cared for Addy….what the hell is she doing with someone she doesn’t even know or like/love. Awful 😢...
Emily is a fool, don’t let go of the man who truly loves you. Let go of the past, of which he did nothing but help someone who saved his life, and be happy with him… he is your soulmate....
Nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face Emily. Just stupid! Ugh 😩...
