"No way!" Simon gave her a naughty smile.
Emily furiously pointed at him with her index finger. "You..."
Simon's slender and jade-like hand held a cup of water and sent it to his thin lips. After taking a sip, he suddenly said, "Emily, have a meal with me!"
"I'm sorry! I..." Emily wanted to refuse.
Simon interrupted her, his peach blossom eyes looking at her. "You know that today is my birthday. How can I spend my birthday alone? I need someone to accompany me!"
"But you can... you can invite Addy!" said Emily, pursing her lips into a tight smile.
Simon raised his eyebrows slightly, and there seemed to be a light of hope flickering inside. He stepped forward and said, "But I just want you to accompany me!"
Emily looked away and clasped her hands behind her back tightly.
Although she told herself not to be affected by his loving words, her heart began to thump violently.
Simon put down the glass of water in his hand and strode back to the porch. It seemed that he had prepared for this. When he came back, he had two shopping bags full of food in his hands. "I have bought the food ingredients from the supermarket. What do you want to eat? I'll make the dishes for you!"
Emily stood there stiffly and did not move, biting her lips and staring at him.
Simon's Adam's apple moved slightly, and he said faintly, "We haven't had the goodbye meal yet."
"..." Emily was speechless for a second.
Simon, carrying two shopping bags, smiled and said in a low voice. "Emily, when we got a divorce and came out from the Civil Affairs Bureau, you've invited me to have a farewell meal. So, let's do it today!"
Emily licked her lips, thinking that it was his birthday today after all, so she nodded and said, "Okay, but you should leave after you finish the meal!"
"Okay!" Simon replied in a low and deep voice.
Through the floor- to- ceiling window, Emily watched the sun go down, leaving only half a faint rose- colored halo, holding a glass of water in her hands. Gradually, the water had cooled down.
As long as she raised her eyes a little, she could see the tall and straight figure in the kitchen.
The cooker hood was buzzing. Simon was wearing an apron, busying cooking in front of the stove. The smell of rice filled the room. A few minutes later, from the dining room, he asked her to go over.
Emily stood up and walked there. There were six dishes and one soup on the table, which was very tasty.
His cooking skills had always been excellent. They had married for four years. During this period, he was the one who prepared the meals at home, though their relationship was strained for at least three and a half years.
Emily took the chopsticks from him with her eyes down, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Simon bent over opposite her and ladled out steaming soup. Suddenly, Emily seemed to have a feeling that they were still a couple. However, she suddenly remembered the divorce certificate in the drawer.
While Emily was eating the rice, Simon suddenly spoke up, "I haven't had such a good meal for a long time!"
"Haven't you had a good meal recently?" Hearing that, she blurted out unconsciously.
"Yes!" Simon pulled his lips, paused, and slowly said as if he wanted to emphasize it: "I can't eat and sleep well!"
Emily tightened her grip on the chopsticks in her hand. Then, she lowered her head to pick up the food to avoid his gaze, which made her feel a little nervous. She paused before changing the topic. "Simon, Boyd has told me that you've helped me a lot about the things related to Maeve and me!"
"Mn." Simon narrowed his peach blossom eyes.
Emily hesitated, wanting to go on talking about this topic. However, Simon did not want to hear her say her ex-boyfriend's name, so he said in a low voice, "Let's eat!"
Fine!

Hate deception and Abby and Dylan take the cake ,ugh...
NO!!! Tina belongs with Wilson…. Let Dylan and Abby get together...
Wow, once again the villain messes up the true love, Abby needs to go back abroad. And Tina’s true identity as the daughter of Bill Ambrey needs to be exposed! Then the families can “convenience marry” !! Abby is a witch....
Too bad Wilson can’t figure out that his and Tina’s ex’s and his cousin Desmond are conniving creeps!...
Anthea is so stupid, lying and leaving the man who loves her more than life itself. 🤬...
She deserves to be unhappy, being with someone she doesn’t love because of resentment for the exact thing she is doing, hopefully she ends up with no one. Calvin is a wimp and doesn’t love her, just wants a wife to please his family....
So the same basic story as Simon and Addy but stupid Emily is going to marry him! What a hypocrite! Ugh...
Emily gets more stupid every chapter, when did she pickup Calvin as a fiancé!!?? This story line is awful….very sad to do to Simon what she “thought” he had done but didn’t. She is truly a dumb woman. Simon never loved or really even cared for Addy….what the hell is she doing with someone she doesn’t even know or like/love. Awful 😢...
Emily is a fool, don’t let go of the man who truly loves you. Let go of the past, of which he did nothing but help someone who saved his life, and be happy with him… he is your soulmate....
Nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face Emily. Just stupid! Ugh 😩...
