The reporters present were recording every word, with flashlights continuously flickering. As Selena glared angrily at Yasmine, the cameras zoomed in on her, waiting for her to drop some explosive news. However, a figure suddenly stepped in front of Yasmine. With just a glance, all the reporters instinctively took a step back, not even daring to hold their recorders up in front of him.
Yo**s’s expression grew increasingly dark, his gaze sharp and icy as he struggled to contain his anger. “You must be kidding. The man in this video was hired by Helen to humiliate Ms. Sanchez. Everyone here should have heard the conversation in the video. Do you really think everyone is a fool?”
Xavier’s expression changed drastically. He couldn’t deny it. Although the video had only played for a few seconds before being forcibly shut off, everyone heard the man in the video accusing Helen of instructing him to harass Yasmine.
Selena had clearly lost her composure and shouted, “You’re always protective of Yasmine, so of course you’d defend her. My poor Helen has been fooled by all of you.”
“Mom!” Xavier hastily interrupted Selena, panic evident in his voice. He knew that the Russell family was not someone they could afford to provoke.
Yasmine sneered. “Mr. Russell is merely telling the truth. Helen, I’ve long told you that we should leave each other alone, but you repeatedly sought to mess with me. This time, it’s just fightback.”
That’s not true!” Helen’s voice was **se from screaming, sounding like an old lady. “You b**h! You’ve ruined everything. You were here just to ruin my birthday party” She threw herself into Xavier’s arms, crying, “Xavier! Look at how evilshe is, You have to avenge me. Since things had escalated to this point and her reputation was in tatters, Helen absolutely couldn’t let Yasmine leave here unscathed.
“Yasmine, no matter what, you were once my wife. If she did something wrong, you could have told me in private. There was no need to escalate things to this point, Xavier said.
Yasmine looked at Xavier’s hypocritical face, feeling waves of nausea. During their three years of marriage, she never realized how repulsive he was. It was only after their divorce that she saw his true colors.
Yasmine retorted, “Xavier, why didn’t you say so when your mother and sister were slandering me at my workplace and forcing the school to fire me? Didn’t you see it with your own eyes at the last Russell family banquet? You’re blaming me using
these plausible reasons because your interests are at stake, isn’t it?
“If you had told them from the beginning that the person you truly loved is Yvette, instead of pretending that we had a peaceful divorce, they wouldn’t have gone around telling everyone that I cheated during our marriage. The way you act like a nice gentleman makes me feel sick!”
“What did you say?” Xavier’s face turned pale. He had never denied that he always loved Yvette, but he had no idea that Selena and Helen had been smearing Yasmine’s reputation behind her back
However, he gave Yonas a complicated look and said, “I admit my mom and Helen shouldn’t have spoken ill-of you, but I also doubted that you cheated during our marriage.” Since Yasmine wasn’t sparing him any dignity, he saw no need to save
hers.
Just as Yonas was about to speak, Yasmine grabbed his sleeve, then stared straight at Xavier and said, “Mr. Flynn, do you have any evidence to back up your claim? Slandering someone in front of so many people is illegal. I have the right to sue you for defamation and for infringing on my reputation.”
Xavier’s face turned livid before he managed to regain his composure. “No.”
“Then please stop spreading baseless accusations, Mr. Flynn. You should focus on your sister. You wouldn’t want tomorrow’s trending topic to be an indecent video of her, right?” Yasmine sad mockingly, glancing at Helen
Helen also regained her composure and quickly said, “That video just showed someone trying to harass me unsuccessfully.

I’m the victim here.” She immediately tried to reposition herself as the victim, hoping to garner some sympathy.
Yasmine knew what she meant, but with so many reporters around, she didn’t bother to expose her. Since this matter no longer concerned her, Yasmine wasn’t interested in listening to whatever Helen and the Flynn family might say next. She scanned the room and finally spotted the person she had been looking for in a corner, Lena.
Lena, dressed in a graceful gown, held a glass of champagne and watched everything unfold with a faint smile. It was as if all the chaos and noise around her had nothing to do with her at all
Yasmine approached her with a smile, and Yonas followed closely behind. Yoselin, amused by the unfolding drama, waved her hand dismissively, “Yonas, you go ahead and keep Yasmine company. I’m enjoying the show.”
Yasmine walked over, extending her hand as she straightforwardly introduced herself, “Hello, Ms. Langston.”
Lena looked slightly puzzled but still placed her hand in Yasmine’s offered one. “Hello, and you are?”
Yasmine said, “I’m a counselor at Aurelith University’s psychology department. I’ve been wanting to reach out to you since I heard you returned home, but I haven’t been able to get in touch. I hope you don’t mind me coming over so abruptly to greet you.”
“It’s okay. And who is this?” Lena asked curiously, glancing at Yoms.
Y**’s eyes were unusually cold. Even though he had followed Yasmine over, he exuded a frosty aura with a sharp coldness in his expression. He nodded slightly and said, “I’m Yonas Russell-
Yonas seemed to have seen Lena somewhere before. “We might have met before,” he added.
Yasmine raised an eyebrow, giving Yonas a curious look. Was he trying to strike up a conversation? And in such an old- fashioned way?’ she wondered.
To her surprise, Lena smiled and immediately relaxed her guard “Mr. Russell, don’t you remember? You consulted me about your sister’s psychological issues some time ago.”
“I remember now,” Yonas replied, his expression unchanged.
Yasmine’s eyes widened in surprise, followed by a hint of disappointment. “Ms. Langston, so you’ve already checked Yoselin’s condition.”
Yo**s cold gaze softened with a touch of warmth. “Why did she seem a bit disappointed?’ he wondered.
He recalled that Yoselin had mentioned Yasmine wanted to meet Lena not just for the competition, though she hadn’t told Yoselin the exact reason. But now, he was pretty sure that the real reason she insisted on meeting Lena was to help Yoselin
“How is Yoselin’s condition?” Lena asked with concern.
Yonas responded softly, “She hasn’t had an episode in a long time
“That’s good to hear,” Lena replied.
Yasmine gently shook her head. “That’s not necessarily a good thing. Treating the symptoms but not the root cause means that as long as she isn’t triggered, she won’t have an episode. But if one day she does encounter a trigger, we might be helpless, especially if we don’t even know what that trigger is.”
Realizing that Yasmine genuinely cared for Yoselin, Yo***s eyes were filled with warmth.
You’re right,” Lena admitted with a hint of regret in her voice. “Mr. Russell approached me before, hoping for a permanent cure, lat 1 didn’t have enough time to help her
After considering for a moment, Yasmine suggested, “Ms. Langston, there will be a psychology knowledge competition four
