Chapter 89
Xavier had just finished signing a contract at a high-end club, but he couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling in his heart. His mind was filled with images of Yasmine and Yonas standing together.
As he left the club, he noticed a long line outside a nearby desser shop, which was buzzing with activity.
His assistant, noticing his glance, said, “Mr. Flynn, this is a famous dessert shop in Soucrity called Dessert Oasis. Many people drive for hours just to buy desserts here. It’s become a popular spot, but they limit their supply, so many people leave empty-handed.”
Xavier thought, ‘Dessert Oasis? The name rings a bell. Where have I heard it before? Then he remembered it. That day, as soon as he came home from work. Yasmine excitedly showed off the things she’d bought-desserts of various sizes laid out on the coffee table. “Xavier, look! This is the famous custard tart waited in line for three hours to get it. You have to try it,” she said with a radiant smile before gently picking up the custard tart and holding it to his lips.
But he only glanced at it coldly and said, “I don’t have time. I need to work. Don’t bother me.”
He remembered how her eyes dimmed instantly, but he didn’t care at the time. After all, he didn’t like Yasmine, and her feelings didn’t matter to him.
He never cared whether his words hurt her or appreciated the trouble she went through just to let him try the tarts.
The memory flooded Xavier’s mind, and he felt as if the untouched custard tart was still at his lips, emanating a faint, sweet
aroma
“Do they sell custard tarts?” he asked suddenly.
The assistant, taken aback, quickly replied, “Yes, I think it’s their most famous item.”
“Go buy some, and get a variety of other desserts too,’ said Xavier
While the assistant queued up, Xavier touched his chest and felra strange sensation, as if his heart had been torn into countless pieces, and he was desperate to fill those cracks.
He thought to himself, ‘I don’t like Yasmine. I’m just trying to ease the guilt that haunts me and stop feeling so…. uncomfortable
He sat in the car for a long time, watching the line at the dessert shop slowly shrink.
He found himself wondering what Yasmine had been thinking during those three hours she spent waiting in line.
When the assistant returned with the desserts, the sweet scent filled the car.
“You can head back on your own. I have something to take care of, so I’m not going back to the office. Go spend time with your girlfriend,” said Xavier.
Overjoyed, the assistant replied, “Okay, Mr. Flynn”
Xavier then drove to a pharmacy and bought a burn ointment.
Meanwhile, Yasmine was at the supermarket on the second floor of the mall near her apartment, shopping for groceries with Yonas and Yoselin.
Yoselin was pushing a shopping cart that was already filled with most of the items they needed-various fruits, vegetables and a few condiments.
“Shall we check out the meat section? Yasmine suggested,

Yonas nodded, following her closely. As they were selecting meat. Yoselin held Yasmine’s hand tightly, squeezing it so hard that it hurt.
Under the purplish light, the meat appeared even more gruesome, and Yoselin murmured nervously, “Let me go, let me go. Yonas, help!”
Yasmine quickly covered her eyes. “It’s okay, Yoselin. We’ll leave this area soon.”
After days of careful care, Yoselin had finally started to recover and couldn’t take any more stress.
“Yonas, could you buy the meat? I’ll take Yoselin somewhere elser Yasmine said.
She then led Yoselin to the other side. Yonas’ expression was serious.
Back at home, Yasmine took charge of the cooking while Yonas assisted her.
Just as they were busy cooking, the doorbell rang.
Yoselin opened the door, but upon seeing the person outside, she took a few steps back in fear and quickly ran to the kitchen. “Yasmine, there’s someone…
Yasmine wiped her hands, asking, “Who is it?” She was stunned when she saw the person at the door-Xavier. Her cheerful expression faded, and she asked with a frown, “Xavier, what are you doing here?”
“Yasmine, Yoselin is here with you?” Xavier hadn’t expected that it would be Yoselin who opened the door.
But seeing Yasmine in an apron reminded him of the old days.
“Mr. Flynn, whoever I invite to my home is none of your business. What do you want? If you have nothing important to say please leave. I’m busy and don’t have time to stand here idling with you, Yasmine responded coldly.
Xavier quickly raised the box of desserts he was holding. “I met a client near Dessert Oasis today and noticed the long line at the dessert shop. I remembered you used to love their desserts, so I bought some for you.
Yasmine was speechless, her gaze growing colder. “Mr. Flynn, you came all this way just to bring me desserts?”
“Not just that. I also brought a burn ointment. I know what happened last time was my sister’s fault. I’ve already transferred, the compensation to your bank account, and I picked this up at the pharmacy on the way.” He took out the burn ointment from the bag.
“I don’t need it. I’m no longer using any,” said Yasmine
“I… Just as Xavier was about to say more, a tall man with an upright posture walked out of the kitchen and asked gently. “Who is it? Why is it taking so long?”
Xavier’s face darkened immediately. He put the ointment back in the bag, looked at Yasmine, and asked sternly, “Why is he here?” He thought, ‘Why is Yonas always at her place? Are they in relationship now? Or is Yonas pursuing her? This must be the truth. I know what that look in Yonas’ eyes means. It’s the same as a beast protecting its prey. His gaze towards me is equally guarded as if he were facing another predator”
Yonas walked over to them, his eyes cold, Yasmine, growing more impatient, responded, “As I said, who I invite into my home is my own choice and none of your concern. Xavier, if you’re only here to bring desserts and the ointment, then please leave. I haven’t had desserts from that shop in ages. Besides, keep the ointment for yourself.
“Mr. Flynn, so you’re here to deliver a burn ointment? Does Ms. Grant know about this?” Yonas tone was hostile, and his eyes were icy
Mr. Russell, I didn’t know you’d be here, Xavier said meaningfully

Yonas’ expression darkened. That has nothing to do with you.”
“Mr. Russell, you should know that I’m her ex-husband,” Xavier stated seriously.
“Ex-husband? So you’re divorced, which means you have no connection to Yasmine anymore. She’s already told you to leave, so I suggest you follow her wishes,” Yonas shot back, his presence commanding.
Yasmine scoffed. “If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the police. Tre**ng could get you detained for a few days. You can then join your sister.”
Xavier shot the two of them a final, piercing look before turning to leave.
Yonas and Yasmine closed the door and went back to the kitchen. The water in the pot was already boiling, and the vegetables had been washed and were ready to use.
