Kye, whose eyes were closed as he reveled in the service of his two new soldiers, felt a wave of unusually strong spiritual power approaching. He immediately opened his eyes and saw Rocky walking towards him. He sat straight up and swiftly summoned a stream of intense spiritual power which he directed towards Rocky.
The other spirit warriors jeered on. They presumed that Rocky was looking for trouble and that he would suffer greatly soon.
But just as Kye let go of his attack, he suddenly felt something wrong. Once his attack reached Rocky, it just disappeared like a handful of sand thrown into the depths of the ocean. Kye was taken aback. He was a warrior at the middle stage of the Spiritual Infant, which made him a standout in the army. However, Rocky managed to thwart his power. This confirmed that he was probably stronger than him.
“Who are you? What are you up to? Why did you break into the camp of the spirit warriors?” Kye didn’t dare to underestimate Rocky. Instead, he feigned his uncertainty by acting like a deer in the headlights.
“Don’t be rude to him, Captain Kye. He’s…” Gage feared that Kye would offend Rocky and tried to cut in at once.
But Rocky cut him off first. “It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that you and your lazy team members fail daily to make any form of progress. You have failed as a captain and even used your power to abuse the recruits. This is against the law. Do you honestly think you’re still qualified to be the captain?”
Kye’s face fell as Rocky listed all his crimes. No one had ever dared to challenge his authority like that in the Tiger Whisker Pass before.
Meanwhile, the other spirit warriors were also insulted by Rocky’s comments and immediately surrounded him.
“It’s not your place to tell me whether I’m qualified to be the captain or not. Who gave you the right to question my authority? Do you have a death wish?” Kye shouted, his face twisted in fury.
Gage broke into a cold sweat once he realized that the situation had gotten out of control. But it wasn’t Rocky that he was worried about, but Kye and his subordinates. He knew Rocky was much stronger. He worried that he would take it too far and the entire spirit warrior team would suffer.
“Don’t you have an announcement to make, Gage?” Rocky asked as he looked back.
Gage was still in shock but immediately began to understand why Rocky intentionally provoked Kye. Anyone appointed to a new position would initiate many changes, and Rocky made sure that he would establish credibility through this.
Gage swallowed and then announced cautiously, “Well, Captain Kye, the commander just issued an order. Starting immediately, Basil will take up the post of captain. All the spirit warriors of the supporting troop will be under his lead.”
“What?” Blue veins popped out of Kye’s temples. It all happened so fast as if he was struck by a lightning bolt out of the blue.
Upon hearing this, the other team members looked just as dumbfounded. Kye’s demotion came as a huge surprise to everyone.
“Well, are you going to hold a welcome ceremony for your new captain?” Rocky directly gazed at the spirit warriors surrounding him.
The warriors glanced at each other. Although Kye was still their leader in their eyes, they couldn’t disobey any order from the commander nor could they attack their new leader. So they nodded and then retreated.
