"Commander in Chief, I am of the point of view you passed the judgment without a second thought. If Rocky were to be eligible to have the same power as the Deputy Commander in Chief, the Crimson Dragon Group would be in grave jeopardy if he would act in defiance. No one can get one's mitts on his allegiance to the Crimson Dragon Army..." Marin lodged a revolt as she got wind of Lance's offer to Rocky. She didn't perceive why she kept guarding against Rocky. Even though he assuaged her from desperate straits in many cases, she sensed he was extremely mystical to be exemption from cynicism. She noticed there was a peculiar sense of distance from him. So, she felt an instant perturbation in her mind when she got wind that the Commander in Chief brought forward such a fundamental position to Rocky. Although there was a time that she lacked conviction about herself being exceedingly sensitive, she did not think she did anything faulty in any situation.
"Father, you need to have a second opinion before you make this declaration!" Isis also had a sneaking suspicion her father's resolution was an impulsive one. It was not because she considered Rocky was not worth her credence. What induced her uneasiness was the impressive change in Rocky's position in the military camp. Rocky was a mere captain of a small squad not long ago, but in no time, he would be a Crimson Dragon General who owned the same power as she did. It would, without a doubt, be a bolt out of the blue and generate an enormous turmoil among the entire Crimson Dragon Group if the news spread.
"I have pondered things over concerning this promotion offer. I indeed am of the impression that Rocky is proficient in this position. He will be a qualified Crimson Dragon General," Lance replied in a reverberating voice as he peered single-minded to the two girls.
At that moment, Rocky also fell into deep contemplation in front of such an irresistible offer from Lance. He had to be of the same opinion that it was nearly in line with what he hankered after. He yearned to secure the support of the Crimson Dragon Group. So, it would be crystal clear to see that he would be an irreplaceable member in the Crimson Dragon Group if he could assume the title of the Crimson Dragon General successfully. That would be one step closer to his ultimate objective.
"What do you figure out?" Lance fixed his eyes on Rocky as he posed a question. His eyes, which had witnessed the critical junctures of slackening and flowed in life and the intricacies of times, were now full of firmness and assuredness as if he was aware Rocky would doubtlessly accept his offer.
"It sounds like a pretty good offer to me! But I would like to make it crystal clear beforehand. As a Crimson Dragon General, I am not compelled to work in a daily routine. I will only present myself when of the essence. Such as the call for me to take part in mapping out the strategy to respond to a critical moment or dire straits. This shall be the prerogative I am awarded with. If the Commander in Chief can give credence to the conditions cited above, I will bite the bullet." Rocky did not miss the slimmest opportunity to blackmail the Commander in Chief.
"Hey! Rocky, you overstepped the boundaries on that..." Marin yelled to Rocky with evident indignation. Her holler reverberated in his ears like a clap of thunder; such was her rage. It was a roar of pure anger.
"That does not sound like a thorn in my side to me." Lance actually gave it an acknowledgment on Rocky's demand without any disinclination.
"Then, I will give the appointment a whirl as you wish. After all, it is said that acquiescence is better than sacrifice." Rocky curved his lips as he saw that things were proceeding smoothly towards his target. Everything went so well as his prediction. It made him be of the judgment that he was now only one step away from the ultimate goal.
