CHARLOTTE...
I turned to see the woman that rushed to me with concern plastered on her face.
The feeling of bitterness and disgust rolled inside me, now when I look at that face. I have trusted her with my every inch only to be dead in the end.
In my previous life, this same thing happened. After Augustus left, Alice came to me with feigned concern. But, for me, those were actions of gold. I couldn't be happier.
Now, when I looked at her carefully, I could sense her jealousy and suppressed anger that she is hiding under her fake concerns.
How was so foolish to not understand her tricks? Well, I deserved the punishment that I got in my previous life.
Before murdering me, she confessed her move toward Augustus. All of this to get him, isn't it? And I was an idiot to believe that all her concern is trustworthy.
When all she did is, used me to get close to Augustus, my mate!
I thought, she is here to help me but never perceived that her goal was to drive wages between me and Augustus.
This time you want the same, don't you? Oh, you can only wish that from afar. Because he is mine and I will make sure of it this time.
Well, you played a game but that wasn't fair as I have never known about that.
Now, I know. Now, it will be great fun to play your game with you. The game is on, Alice Milano.
"Oh, Goddess!" Alice widened her eyes, staring at me from head to toe and then focused on my neck and collarbone. More specifically, at the marks left by Augustus.
"He... really did it." She mumbled.
I remember this dialogue. Well, each and every word she said to me in the previous life. But, the meaning behind those words completely changed with my belief.
Last time, I sensed worry and now, I sense jealousy. Well sweetheart, let me show you more in that case.
I slid the silk bedsheet a little, exposing his deep marks Overy my chest.
"Yeah, he claimed me... Over and over. Maybe, he... Really wants me?"
The moment my lips slipped those words she growled at me.
"NO!"
Her blue eyes stared at me, enraged enough, making me laugh inside. But outside, I pretend to be confused.
"What happened, Alice? D...did I say something wrong?"
As if she realised her mistake and quickly changed her expression and smiled.
"Oh my sweet joy, you are too innocent, Charlotte." she held my shoulders, eyeing the marks he left, again and again.
Innocent? Oh no sweetheart, call me a fool.
"Y...you didn't let him mark you, did you?" Her eyes fixated on mine before glaring at those marks. Her tone was so freaking filled with jealousy and rage along with nervousness.
Well, not now maybe. But, I will next for sure.
The past me would have fallen for all these sweet words not knowing the cruelty and different meaning hiding behind them.
But I swear, there is a dark fun when you are playing the same game that your opposition is playing with you, not knowing you know it all.
It feels so good though it sounds vicious. But, I couldn't care less!
But when I think about it or look at her now, it hurts. It really does. I really did trust them so much but they always tricked me.
I don't know if I should be angry with them or hate myself for being such an idiot and being fooled and brainwashed by them for years.
How long exactly did they plan for it?
I know the answer though. Since we met, they kept playing.
"Charlotte, you okay?" Her annoying tone broke my thoughts as I turned to her solely to find her watching me and if I have to be more specific, then on the marks on mine.
I smirked inwardly, slipping the cover more, exposing me a little bit.
"I am fine. Just a little bit... Hurt." I said, watching her.
She consoled me with one last hug and said, "Don't worry, I won't let you get hurt again. But now, I have to go before Augustus finds out, okay?"
With that, she left.
Well, I know exactly how you are going to help me. And I am hella ready for it...
