CHARLOTTE...

I watched in those emerald-green eyes that were firmly watching me for once and then the food on his plate.

A helpless sigh escaped my lips as I shook my head, knowing his suspicion.

I went forward and with the extra spoon, I took a spoonful and ate it. Chewing the food leisurely, I gulped it and then opened my mouth as proof that I ate the food.

"There is nothing in it Augustus. Can you trust me now, when I ate it myself? I have promised you I won't run away, not anymore."

He didn't say anything but glancing at me for a while, he pulled the plate to him and started eating the food gracefully.

He is so neat and graceful. Always giving a royal vibe. Well, he is one though. The king of all alphas.

I watched him eating his food, realising there is nothing that would harm him his movements relaxed a bit. But that doubt never left.

Since he warned me not to leave after entering his office, I have said the same thing a couple of times, hoping he would believe me a bit.

However, he didn't. He may not say any words against it but his expression gave away the doubts he has in me.

I know for right that it won't go away so easily. I never gave him a reason for trusting me ever before and now, all of a sudden, it won't come.

I have to be patient for him to trust me again. Once he started to believe in me, other pack members would do it too.

After he was done eating, I packed the box like before.

"If you want to go, you can leave. I will ask Mateo to take you home." He said.

I shook my head. "Can I stay with you a few more times? If you don't have any problem?" I asked, hoping he would let me.

He watched me with his green predatory eyes, not giving away his thoughts. However, he gave a tight nod.

"Okay." He agreed and I smiled from the heart.

Frankly speaking, staying with him gives me a sense of security. Surprisingly, being close to him calms me down.

Never realised it before though. Well, in my past life, I was a fool and blinded by so-called love.

I don't have a strong mate bond with my mate because of being wolfless. So, I don't feel the strong connection that my mate feels for me. Yet, there is something I can sense. It's not deep enough but still there.

Sitting on the couch on one side of his office, I looked around. First time I came here and the office is incredibly beautiful.

Augustus is not only the King of all Alpha but also a billionaire. They have a family business and he is the current director of the company.

So, there is no problem for me to stay.

Leaning on the couch, I watched him work. He is wearing a white shirt, folded the sleeves till his forearm as he is busy working. His dark hair is neatly combed.

He is looking so hot and gorgeous at the same time.

In my previous life I never really watched him carefully. Look wise and in appearance, he is on the top! Adrian is nothing before him! Now I know, why women are always behind him.

They could not get him even if they want and I was pushing him away? Now when I think of that, I really don't find any words to scold me!

In a word, I was insane!

While watching him, slowly my eyes turned heavy as I was drowned in deep slumber...

Praying to Goddess to give him some sense so he could walk out of here, yet he didn't. Did he promise to annoy me before he came here?

He didn't move, instead, he continued, "Take my suggestion, Augustus. Leave that woman. She is worthless. With your status and look you can get any female companion you want. Even I have a few sisters, they are womanly and incredibly strong to be the Luna. I can introduce them to you. What do you..."

But before he could complete his sentence, I lost it and glared at him. Damon almost took over.

"I want Charlotte only. She is my mate. I don't want anyone else. If you have nothing else to say, get lost if you don't want me to tear you apart." This time a hint of huskiness in my growling because of Damon.

No one, I mean it, no one should dare to apart us from. If anyone ever tries that, I will give them the death they could never even think of in their nightmare...

CHARLOTTE...

Leaning against the cold wall, I slipped down on the floor, hugging myself tight with tears on my cheeks.

I heard every word they said. And Augustus stood up for me, touched my soul in a way I never felt before. It's soothing and sad at the same time.

Everyone knows I don't have a wolf but that's not the truth. I have a wolf but my wolf never wakes up due to drugs that were given by Alice and Adrian. The people I loved and trusted the most.

In my previous life, I never knew that I have a wolf. It's them who told me this truth before killing me.

Why? Why they did this to me? Just to get Augustus and his power? It's still so Suffocating and unbelievable. Maybe, I wouldn't have believed this if I wasn't the one suffering their ruthlessness.

I closed my eyes as slowly some hurtful memories started floating through my mind, fresh and very much alive.

I swear, those who have showed me death, I will make each of them pay with their life...
