Right then, Hayden scrutinized Wagner carefully, feeling that something was amiss.
The old man came looking for him on his own accord and even offered to treat him. Now that he agreed to his treatment, Wagner didn't want any of his money.
What could he be possibly after?
The more Hayden thought about it, the stranger it seemed.
"If so, do you have some other conditions, or perhaps to trade something of mine?" Hayden asked warily. After all, he didn't believe in free lunch!
"Sir, if you have conditions for me to fulfill, just let me know, and I'll do my best to meet them," he stated once more.
"I told you there's no need. This is the fate between us! Treating your condition is barely an inconvenience. What I really want is to get acquainted with you," Wagner explained with a hearty laugh.
He was beginning to find Hayden rather interesting. Hayden's thoughtfulness was far beyond those of his age. It was truly amazing!
However, he didn't tell Hayden the truth, that the Caldwells had paid him for the treatment.
"If that's the case, then I'll be in your care, sir!" Hayden said respectfully, offering a bow.
"Alright, then. Let's begin the first treatment! Take a seat first," Wagner instructed.
Hayden was compliant and took a seat in the chair nearby, not moving in the slightest.
Following that, Wagner took out a pouch of silver needles from his pocket. As he opened the pouch, fine, intricate silver needles could be seen.
Wagner picked one up, his movements gentle and precise. Despite the gentleness, the silver needle's point and body began shaking as though it was a strand of hair in the wind, soft and flexible.
It was the first time Hayden ever witnessed this kind of treatment in person. Before this, he had only seen it in online videos or on the TV.
