Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 148

"Well said!" Hayden agreed in his mind.

Wagner started to rub off on him. To think he'd even look down on the Sterling family. His courage was commendable!

However, something confused him.

"Wasn't Morgan the only Sterling who got sick? How come there's another one?" Hayden asked curiously.

He remembered that Morgan was still acting sick when he left. Was someone else also putting on the sick act?

"It's like this. Mr. Lily Sterling just fainted from her illness earlier. Soon after that, she started coughing up blood! None of our diagnoses found anything wrong with her!" Joshua told them the truth.

It didn't matter who this young man was. Joshua's priority was to get Wagner to go back with him!

"Her meridians are blocked, which messes up her circulation. There's no way regular medical techniques could identify the problem." Wagner shook his head, smiling smugly.

"Yes! That's exactly the problem! Because we're unable to diagnose the problem, we're here to ask for your help in diagnosing her condition!" Joshua quickly agreed, nodding along without shame. It was as if his failure to diagnose the disease was a given.

"I'm not going, nor do I want to." Wagner shook his head, his stance firm in the matter.

Situations like this had nothing to do with him.

"But… a life is at stake here! Moreover, didn't you take the oath as a medical practitioner? How can you refuse to treat her?"

Joshua was getting restless, and his face started turning red. If he went back empty-handed, he would fail his task miserably!

"That's none of my business. Are you telling me that I'll have to go out of my way to save every dying person out there each day? Sometimes, life and death lie in the hands of fate!" Wagner declined once more, shaking his head.

Those eyes of his carried a deep sense of mournful sorrow.

That was the state of mind of a person who had accustomed himself to life and death.
