"Let's be real. Only we have the pull to get Mr. Schnapp to show up," Julia said with a sigh, her tone filled with certainty.
"There's no way Hayden and his adoptive parents have any connection to him. They're just regular people, and nothing will change that. Unless they reported something to the authorities and Mr. Schnapp got wind of it."
She paused, her expression serious. It had taken her some time to reach this conclusion. After all, how else could Morgan's admission scandal at Brighton University have come to light at such a public event?
"I think you're right." Anna nodded, rubbing her temples in frustration.
"Let's not forget that Hayden was only invited to the party because of Morgan. He had even personally extended the invitation. There's no way he'd sabotage himself like that.
"And the ten-billion-dollar project? There's no chance that had anything to do with them either," Julia continued. "People like them wouldn't have access to that kind of operation, let alone dirty money."
"What about Albert? That incident has nothing to do with Hayden, right?" Anna asked, tilting her head thoughtfully.
"I don't think Hayden and his family had anything to do with that. Honestly, I believe the driver just had a change of heart."
It was the last piece of the puzzle they could consider, and it seemed to be the only logical explanation.
"Today was just… too strange," Julia muttered. "It feels like this was all orchestrated long before the party. But honestly? I don't even want to dig into it anymore. This is way beyond what the Sterling family can handle. At least, I'm sure of one thing. It wasn't Hayden or his family."
"So what now? Should we talk to him?" Anna asked, her words pointed.
Julia hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. "Talk to him? About what, exactly?"
Anna's jaw tightened. "We're just going to leave him out there? Alone?"
"He made his choice," Julia said flatly, her expression unchanging.
"That's an excuse!" Anna shot back, her voice rising.
