Hayden couldn't help but admire the Sterling family's resilience.
The Sterling family had never faced so many challenges in his past life. Hayden knew his actions had altered the course of events and created a butterfly effect. Everything happening now was a direct result of his interference.
"Whatever," Hayden muttered to himself with a stretch and a wry smile. "I'll just enjoy the summer break and get ready for college. Let's see what the future holds."
…
The next morning, Hayden was up early and had the TV tuned to the finance channel. He watched intently, soaking in every piece of news.
This had become his morning routine. The station regularly broadcasted important updates that Hayden hoped would give him an edge in the future. In his previous life, he hadn't paid attention to such things. Now, he saw it as the stepping stone to his success.
After finishing the news, Hayden noticed that Jenny still hadn't woken up. He realized she was likely lazing in bed again.
James and Serena had already left the house, leaving breakfast for Jenny. Hayden walked to her bedroom door and knocked lightly.
"Jenny? Are you awake?"
But there was no response.
"Jenny? If you're up, say something. The breakfast is getting cold!" Hayden called out again. Still no reply. His brows furrowed as concern crept in.
Knocking a bit louder this time, he said, "Jenny? Can you hear me? Get up already!"
When there was still no answer, Hayden's worry spiked. He turned the doorknob and pushed the door open, rushing inside, fearing the worst.
