According to the law, Hayden was biologically related to the Sterling family and thus had an obligation to support them. Although he was put in an orphanage before, the Sterling family had later found him and supported him for several years.
The room fell silent at Anna's words.
Everyone turned to Hayden, their thoughts heavy. They knew that Anna was right. Even if Hayden left, he couldn't escape the legal obligations.
"Oh? Are you sure about that?" Hayden's eyes widened, a sinister smile spreading across his face. That smile sent a shiver down everyone's spines.
"What… Of course I'm sure!" Anna swallowed hard, visibly startled. She couldn't understand why Hayden had such a response.
"Well, why don't you investigate this properly? Does my situation really matter in this context?
"You say you've supported me, but where's the evidence? Where's the adoption certificate? Did I ever get registered in the Sterling family's household records? What proof do you have?" Hayden spoke through gritted teeth as if each word carried a weight.
These weren't conclusions Hayden had come to himself. They were from his past life.
Back then, Anna was disgusted with him and had openly revealed that Hayden wasn't legally tied to the Sterling family. They severed ties and expelled him from the family with just a few words.
But now, the roles had reversed.
Hayden wanted to leave, yet Anna refused to let him go. What irony!
"Y-You…" Anna stammered, her lips trembling.
She didn't expect Hayden to know so much. It made her freeze in place, like a statue. Her expression shifted repeatedly, her confidence completely shattered.
"How laughable. You must've been planning this all along, haven't you? You must have investigated everything beforehand!
