The security guard's face went pale as a sheet. With a resigned shake of his head, he turned to leave.
Ashley, feeling bored and restless on her own, got up to wander around. She thought she heard the faintest trickle of water and decided to follow the sound.
Stopping next to a bathroom, she noticed the door was slightly ajar. Figuring that if someone hadn’t bothered to lock it, they probably didn’t mind being seen, she plucked up some courage and nudged the door open a bit more. Through the gap, she spotted a man in the middle of getting dressed.
His shirt was only half-buttoned, exposing his chest, which looked like it was riddled with scars that resembled crawling centipedes. The sight was enough to send chills down her spine, and she let out an involuntary scream.
The man’s head snapped up, and he hastily pulled his shirt closed. "Who let you in?" His voice was sharp and filled with anger, like a storm about to break.
Ashley's face drained of color. “I didn’t mean to peek,” she stammered. “I was just curious…”
“Curious about what?” His voice was icy, cutting through the air.
He straightened his shirt with deliberate movements and strode over to her, his footsteps heavy. His eyes, clear as the night sky, held a gaze that was both mesmerizing and intimidating.
Ashley took a step back instinctively. “I was just trying to find you, didn’t expect you to be in here,” she said, unable to stop her eyes from darting back to the scars, a mix of shock and unease in her gaze.
“Did you see my scars?” he asked.
Ashley nodded.
“Are you afraid?”
She paused for a moment before shaking her head. “I’m not afraid of them. Just curious about how you got such intense scars.”
