Reborn From Oblivion (Nellie and Cameron) novel Chapter 588

The man's shadowed face was as icy and distant as a snow-capped mountain, his lips tightly pressed as he spoke with a chilling edge, "Go back and tell your grandfather he can only choose between wealth, power, or fame. Wanting it all will leave him with nothing."

Ashley, not ready to give in, argued, "You're part of the Stewart family now, our son-in-law. You should stand with us against our enemies. If the Stewart family falls, it affects you too. Why do you seem so indifferent to our struggles?"

The man's hand clenched suddenly, his knuckles cracking ominously.

Ashley's heart pounded; she knew his moods were unpredictable, his silence often foreboding. She was unsure of the consequences of angering him, but hoped their close relationship and the Stewart family's future would shield her from his wrath.

But she had overestimated her place in his life.

The color drained from his fingers, a visible manifestation of his deep-seated anger.

"Ashley, do you know why I married you?" His voice was low, his handsome face shrouded in darkness, his expression unreadable.

Ashley swallowed hard, her confidence in her beauty, intelligence, and impressive education suddenly shaken.

"Why?" Her voice quivered.

"That's for you to figure out," he replied, a shadow passing over his eyes. "Just remember, don't overestimate yourself with me."

"Anyone who tries to manipulate me ends up regretting it."

With that, he wheeled himself away.

Ashley felt as though the air had been sucked out of her lungs, her chest tightening as she stumbled out.

But the basement was like a maze; she ran for what felt like forever, always ending up back at the start.

Panic took hold, and she shouted for help, "Mr. Morris, are you there? Can you help me out?"
