Reborn From Oblivion (Nellie and Cameron) novel Chapter 628

Miranda's face turned pale, her hands gripping the wheelchair trembling noticeably. Nathalie caught every detail of this reaction, feeling a twinge of surprise. Could Miranda actually be feeling guilty toward her?

The thought seemed impossible. When Nathalie was a child, Miranda treated her like an enemy, beating and berating her, calling her a burden, a hindrance, and even wishing for her to be hit by a car. If there was a glimmer of conscience left in Miranda, did that mean she could feel remorse and perhaps make things right?

Nathalie tapped her fingers lightly on the stone table, contemplating how she might use Miranda’s guilt to pry some useful information from her.

“I went to see Lincoln today,” Nathalie announced, dropping the bombshell without hesitation.

Miranda’s lined face registered pure shock, her eyes wide with panic. “Lincoln, he... he's still alive?” Miranda was genuinely taken aback.

Nathalie held her gaze steady. “Did you really think all these years that he was dead?”

Miranda stumbled over her words, “How would I know anything about him? People like him are completely out of my reach.”

“If you knew who my biological father was, why didn’t you return me to the Stewart family back then?” Nathalie pressed on.

Miranda grew more flustered. “Your mother left you in my care. She never said to take you back to your father.”

Nathalie lowered her eyes. “After all, my dad’s still alive.”

Miranda shifted uneasily in her wheelchair.

Nathalie observed her closely, “You seem pretty scared of him.”

Miranda forced a chuckle, “Why would I be afraid? I just really need to use the bathroom. Greta, can you help your mom get there?”

Greta replied lazily, “You can go yourself.”

Nathalie stepped in, “I’ll take you.”

Ignoring Miranda’s resistant gaze, she stood up and began to push her toward the restroom.
