Cameron gave a dismissive smirk. "I'm not scared of her."
Ashley paused for a moment, thinking it over. "True, her business skills are nothing compared to yours, the once-celebrated prince of the corporate world. It's no wonder you don't give her much thought."
But underestimating a rival always comes with a cost.
As Ashley went in to see the doctor, Cameron's phone buzzed with a call from his assistant.
"Mr. Dawson," the assistant said, "I've heard that Stewart Mall is now under Ms. Nathalie's management. She's invested in a top-notch K-12 school and a major hospital nearby. The leasing rates for the mall are going through the roof..."
Cameron's eyes widened in surprise.
"Building a school and a hospital in such a remote area? Seriously, who's going to study or get treated there? Without foot traffic, her school and hospital are just going to be empty shells... She's not cut out for business."
The assistant replied, "Actually, the surrounding real estate firms are already bidding. Rumor has it, in three years, there'll be a huge development there."
Cameron's grip on his phone tightened.
"Is there some kind of partnership between the developer and Nathalie?"
"Seems like it."
"With the real estate market in such a slump, how did she persuade developers to start building?"
"I'm not sure," the assistant admitted.
"Find out."
The assistant hesitated for a second. "Sir, weren't you planning to lease Stewart Mall at a bargain? Now that it's picking up, the rent might be more than we can handle."
Cameron's face turned serious.
