Greta couldn't help but feel a wave of triumph. "In my dad's final days, he became really ill, and it was my sister Nathalie who took care of him. Out of gratitude, he left her his company and house. But she isn’t exactly a whiz at managing things, so the company went belly up. Otherwise, my dad would’ve been rolling in dough."
Her words not only salvaged Patrick's reputation but also subtly painted Nathalie as someone both greedy and clueless. It was a deft bit of manipulation.
Sure enough, Lincoln listened to Greta's story and couldn't help but feel concerned for Nathalie. "So, Vivian's not much of a business brain, huh?"
Poor kid, Lincoln thought. With her dad down, she had to take on the family’s burdens.
He felt a pang of guilt for Nathalie.
Miranda seized the moment, chiming in, "Lincoln, don’t worry about her. My Greta’s got a degree from a top-notch university. She can pitch in and help her sister steer through these choppy waters."
Lincoln studied Greta closely. "Are you really up for helping your sister out?"
Greta nodded earnestly. "Uncle, my health isn’t the best, so I shouldn't be overdoing it. But Nathalie’s my sister, and if she’s in a bind, I’ll step up without a second thought."
Lincoln was quite impressed. "Alright then, Greta. I'll get you set up at Stewart Enterprises."
Greta was thrilled. "Thanks, Uncle."
As Greta and her mom left the hospital, they were practically glowing with satisfaction.
Miranda remarked, "Greta, I can tell Lincoln’s really taken a shine to you. Keep it up."
Ambition burned in Greta's eyes. "I know exactly what to do." She was set on climbing her way to the top, no matter what, and making those who doubted her eat their words.
...
Nathalie had been digging around and finally pieced together some bits and pieces about Ashley's fiancé.
