Reborn From Oblivion (Nellie and Cameron) novel Chapter 702

Frankie sat on the bed, completely dazed. She couldn't wrap her head around how she had ended up going along with his wishes. That deep, smooth voice echoed in her mind again: "Grandma, I know you're not fond of me. A kid as dark and ruthless as I am, it's understandable. I don't blame you for it."

"When I go in, with this broken body of mine, there's no way I'll make it to release day. But I've got a reason to hang on; I want her to be safe and happy. If she's not, I won't hesitate to give everything to come back..."

Frankie's face was pale, fear etched into every line. Her tired, aged eyes trembled as she gazed in the direction Nathalie had left. Just a moment ago, Nathalie's eyes had turned dull and lifeless, like she'd lost interest in the world. It left Frankie feeling uneasy.

If anything happened to her, that boy would definitely make sure the McCoy family didn't have a moment's peace. He had the knack for slipping out of any situation.

Nathalie left the McCoy family home, wandering aimlessly. A huge delivery truck suddenly barreled her way, but Nathalie seemed oblivious, just kept walking. Her mind was stuck on one thing: Kelly was gone. Nathan was beyond saving.

The truck driver finally spotted the figure ahead, blaring his horn, the sound slicing through the air. "Nathan, should I join you?" Nathalie murmured, standing right in the middle of the road, eyes shut tight.

The driver realized she was there to end it all. He tried to swerve, but the truck was too big, and it sent Nathalie flying. She hit the ground with a heavy thud.

"Ah," the driver gasped in panic. Hands shaking, he fumbled for his phone and dialed for help.

When Lincoln and Dominick Ford got to the hospital, they overheard the driver, still shaken, explaining to the cops, "I swear, I didn't hit her. She just walked out, and I couldn't turn in time, so she got hurt. Officer, I didn't hit her... you can check the surveillance cameras..."

Lincoln took in the sight of the honest old man, his face a picture of panic and helplessness. Despite the anger bubbling inside, his gut told him something was off.
