"I regret it even more, knowing what you and your mother are like, yet I still couldn't protect Nathan. I let you hurt him..."
The pain of losing Nathan hit Nathalie like a storm. With eyes blazing red, she spat out, "You're barking up the wrong tree asking for my help. I'm the one who wants to see Greta meet her end more than anyone. Her downfall is my delight."
Miranda's eyes widened in disbelief. "You... you weren't like this before?"
Suddenly, the car door behind them slammed open, and out stepped Cameron, his face dark with anger.
Nathalie was a bit thrown off. So it was Cameron who brought the now-paralyzed Miranda here? And was it his idea to save Greta too?
Ha. The lengths he'll go for her. What a messed-up family—there's not a normal one among them.
Cameron marched straight to Nathalie, standing face to face, their eyes locked in a silent battle.
A chilling tension hung in the air between them.
Cameron kept his haughty, superior look.
But Nathalie, once timid and humble, now stared back fiercely, with a mix of disdain, contempt, and a hint of mockery.
Cameron was taken aback by Nathalie's transformation. "Nathalie, now that you've got some power, you've become arrogant," he said, lacing his words with sarcasm.
Nathalie elegantly flicked back her hair and chuckled. "Honestly, I don't think much of you. To me, you're nothing more than an animal."
Cameron, infuriated, grabbed her by the throat with a vicious grip. "You dare insult me? Who gave you the nerve?"
He thought his earlier actions were a slip-up, not significant enough to worry about.
But Nathalie knew his type: the more you back down, the more he pushes. So she had to hit back hard.
With a sudden clap of her hands, a group of bodyguards emerged. Nathalie grinned wickedly and pointed at Cameron. "Teach him a lesson."
The bodyguards shouted, "Yes!" and surrounded Cameron. In the ensuing chaos, a foot slammed into Cameron's stomach, doubling him over like a shrimp. The rest pounced, raining punches on his face and body.
Cameron fought desperately, but pinned down by several burly men, he was helpless. He lay there, only able to lift his head slightly.
He looked at Nathalie with terror, the once insignificant ant now as powerful as an elephant, the once kind and gentle girl now formidable and unafraid. This was beyond anything he had anticipated.
