With Simon no longer involved in the collaboration project, progress picked up quickly.
In just a week, the design drafts began to take shape. Kate’s focus shifted entirely to preparing for the international design competition finals she was set to join in three months.
Her office became a strictly off–limits for all the building’s designers. Without her permission, no one, not even Miles, could step inside.
Although Miles always pestered Kate to let him inside, he couldn’t help but be amazed by her discarded drafts. “Wow! My muse, I really want to see your actual designs!
“Even these rejects are so lively, sparking my passion and design talent!
“I bet when your work shows up in the finals of the international design competition, it’ll totally blow everyone away!”
Miles stared in awe at Kate’s discarded designs.
Kate was used to Miles‘ enthusiasm and smiled gently. “You’ll see when it’s ready. Besides me, you’ll be the second person to see this design.”
Miles fell silent, and then complained, “Why second? Shouldn’t I be the first? My muse, considering our bond, shouldn’t I get the first look?”
Kate gazed down at the detailed design drafts, a small smile playing on her lips, her eyes soft. I’ll show these to Eric first.”
When Miles heard the name “Eric,” he abruptly closed his mouth.
He sighed with resignation, opened his mouth as if about to say something, but in the end, remained silent.
I can’t compare to Eric! I should stay out of their

Miles’s gaze drifted over to the frames on Kate’s desk
He had noticed earlier that there were several new frames with photos of Kate and Eric at the beach, looking incredibly serene and happy together.
Yet, each time he saw those photos, Miles couldn’t shake the feeling that the person in them couldn’t
