Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 324

I was totally lost. What was he trying to say?

Neil looked at me all puzzled, then suddenly his face darkened and he just walked away.

I followed him in confusion. After a while, it hit me. I hadn't checked if Neil had gotten home last night. After he drove off, I didn't bother to ask. I didn't really care about what could happen between him and Bonnie.

Was that why he was mad?

I noticed Neil getting jealous more easily, and always for unclear reasons.

"I was too tired last night and fell asleep. I meant to check on you..." I said patiently. "I trust you, so I don't need to ask too much, right?"

"Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes. I know how you used to treat me and how you treat me now." Neil replied coldly.

He remembered how I used to treat him? My one-sided feelings back then must have left a mark.

I wasn't sure if I should be happy, but I just burst into laughter.

"You're laughing now? You've got guts." Neil saw me laughing and got even madder. "Don't think that just because you're hurt, I won't do anything to you."

I stopped laughing immediately. "Alright, it's all my fault. Now go get busy. I'll try to get Ethan Foster to sign the contract in the next few days. It will take some time."

"Good, you owe me after this is over." Neil reminded me before he left. I pretended to agree, but I felt uneasy.

How was I supposed to make it up to Neil? Have a baby for him? That was never going to happen.

After things were finally settled, Neil might start hating me.

My mom was awake now, and as long as she recovered well, she could go back to work. All I had to do was help her.

"Neil, I need to talk to you!" I called out to Neil.

"What is it?" Neil stopped, looking puzzled.

"You should watch out for Louis Aldridge. It would be a good thing if you could keep him out of Whitmore Co." I hadn't meant to say this, but after seeing all that Neil had done for me, I considered it payback.

Neil's face changed instantly. He probably had a hunch, but he valued his friends very much. Apart from the strained relationship he had with Russel because of me, he always put his friends first, especially Louis, whom he had grown up with.

His mood seemed to have eased a bit, as if he were reassuring me. "Okay, I got it."

Then he left.

About three days later, Hannah received a phone call saying her husband had been arrested for arson and murder. Only then did she realize that the fire at their home was indeed set by her husband.

"You can file for divorce now." I reminded Hannah.

"I pray that I will never see him again!" Hannah cursed her husband. There was not a trace of affection for him in her eyes, only hatred.

But I still didn't understand why Bonnie had never been punished. I thought someone was protecting her. Later, I found out that Neil had not used all the evidence and had let Bonnie off the hook on purpose.
