Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love novel Chapter 179

Sylvia seemed to be lost in memories.

"He asked me out just to catch up. We talked about old times. He knows I'm married now, with a happy family and a daughter. He was genuinely happy for me. He praised you before me, saying you're even better than me." Sylvia said.

At this point, Sylvia smiled.

"It almost scared me to death. I thought some cheesy plot twist from the book was coming and Mikayla was Kevin's child." Juliet couldn't resist chiming in.

Mikayla said, tapping the driver's seat, "You are ridiculous."

"How is that possible? Kevin has been abroad for years. Because of that, I was with Jorge, and I got pregnant with Mikayla," Sylvia patiently explained, without blaming Juliet.

Juliet let out a sigh of relief, patting her chest, thinking, 'So it's all made up in books. I was hoping that one day my real mom would come and claim me.'

"Sorry, Mom." Mikayla affectionately linked arms with Sylvia, resting her head on her shoulder. She had thought Sylvia would avoid talking about the past like last time, but Sylvia surprised her by bringing it up.

Mikayla knew that it was a big hurdle for someone to talk about past sorrows, and yet she still brought up Sylvia's. She thought, 'Mom must be feeling uneasy.'

"Mikayla, those were all things a long time ago. It's okay. It was my fault last time for not explaining things clearly to you and not knowing where to start, which led to the misunderstanding. It's good that I said it now. I feel a lot better having it off my chest." Sylvia patted Mikayla's hand and said, her face filled with relief.

"Does Dad know about what happened between you and Kevin?" Mikayla asked, raising her eyes.

"I'm not sure if Jorge knows about this. He probably does. When we get back, I'll explain it to him." Sylvia's voice was soft and gentle.

"Dad will understand," Mikayla said.

"Okay," Sylvia replied.

Juliet glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror, looking at Mikayla and Sylvia. She thought, 'Mom is such a strange word.'

Juliet drove Sylvia back home, and Mikayla waved goodbye to Juliet. Afterward, Juliet also drove Mikayla to her and Carlos's mansion.

"Send me a message when you get home." Mikayla got out of the car and instructed.

"Alright. If you don't go in now, Carlos might flip my house's roof." Juliet started the car and waved towards Mikayla.

Watching Juliet's burgundy car vanish before her eyes, Mikayla finally stepped into the mansion.

She had a lingering sense of unease, always feeling that Brantley's feelings towards Juliet were not as pure as they seemed on the surface. She hoped that this was just her imagination.

Entering the mansion, only Carlos was sitting on the sofa in casual attire, watching a political show. It was just the two of them in the house.

At this hour, Dexter probably had already taken a nap.

"Back so late?" Carlos turned off the TV with the remote control.

Mikayla kicked off her heels and walked towards Carlos, who naturally opened his arms, enveloping her in a hug, and planting a gentle kiss on the top of her head.

"I met Mom on the way back, and also that pianist Kevin from last time." Mikayla leaned against him. She always felt that this hug was both warm and comfortable, with a faint, fresh scent after a shower.
