Mikayla was used to hearing people address her as Mrs. Ludwig. Giving Josiah a nod, she strutted into the office building with a click of her heels.
Punch in, hop on the elevator, arrive at her floor, slide into her department—Mikayla oozed confidence and calmness as she strolled into the workspace. "Drop by my spot!" Mikayla commanded as she loomed over Maxius's desk.
"Totally!" Maxius shut the files, trailing Mikayla into her office.
Quinnlyn handed two coffees and quickly slipped away.
Firing up her computer, Mikayla prodded Maxius, "What's your take on the next computer gig we're backing?"
Chilling at the desk, Maxius spilled, "Considering the demand in the market, I say we go all out. Our new product groundwork is solid, and after testing, my faith in our product is sky-high."
"Right on. Once our product starts flying off the shelves, those manufacturers might hike up prices. That's one concern," Mikayla chimed in. Price changes in the middle of the game could be a headache.
"And if there's a shortage, production could get delayed, easily pushing back by a week," Maxius pitched in.
Both flashed knowing grins. Mikayla was genuinely happy with the unspoken bond she shared with Maxius at work. Finding a work buddy whose vibe syncs with yours isn't a cakewalk, either at work or in everyday life. It's frustrating having to explain things half the day only to hit a wall of misunderstanding.
"I'm vibing with our new products, too. I'll figure a way to sway the chairman and the board," Mikayla said, mustering a smile, stifling a yawn the next moment.
"Chill with the grind! Look after yourself!" Maxius noted, his eyes gleaming with genuine care.
Mikayla sheepishly smiled, sipped her coffee to mask her true thoughts. God knew it wasn't work that was keeping her from resting. "Sure thing," she nonchalantly replied.
Right after that, Mikayla went back to her usual work vibe, yanking out a folder from the clutter on her desk. "Here's a fresh promotion plan that Eric and I whipped up after Mr. Rogers's feedback last time. Thumbs through it. Any bright ideas?"
Maxius took the plan from Mikayla, cracked it open, and pored over every detail. "Super detailed, but it feels like something's still missing."
"Just a plan gig won't light up the town, huh? If we aim to amp up by thirty percent, this ain't cutting it," Mikayla said what she observed straightforwardly. She wasn't one for slacking off at work. She knew she had room for improvement and hoped to tackle the gaps with others.
Maxius met her eyes. "Spot on."
