Chapter 164 Don't Touch Me
Avery's eyes widened in shock.
These days, she had imagined countless times what Jacob would do if he caught her.
But it never occurred to her that he would do such a thing.
He was like a traveler in the desert, desperately seeking water. Finally, he found a clear spring, carefully kissed it, and savored it, fearing he might lose it.
Avery's heart raced.
She saw the man's trembling eyelashes in the sunlight, covering the expression on his face, making her unable to discern his thoughts.
Jacob had long been as gentle as he was now.
As she was lost in thought, Jacob suddenly bit her lips hard, sending a sharp pang.
Jacob's voice was cold and hoarse. "Are you thinking of him again?"
To be honest, she was constantly thinking of Jacob. How could she have the time to think of anything else?
Avery retorted with a cold face, "No. How many times do I have to tell you that we're just ordinary friends?"
"Heh!" He sneered.
It was obvious that, in his eyes, she was a cheating wife, and he was unwilling to believe anything she said.
Not only did he not believe, his emotions became even more extreme. His fingers caressed Avery's face, his voice deep. "Has he touched you?"
Avery widened her eyes again, seemingly not expecting him to say such a thing, and her voice grew even colder. "No! You've gone too far!"
Each of his words felt like a knife cutting into her heart, and the wounds on her body with salts on them paled in comparison to the pain in her heart.
"He touched your hand." Jacob, like a paranoid child, slid his fingers down, entwining them with hers.
Avery opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.
She didn't know how to explain.
All she could do was suppress her emotions and not let herself anger Jacob.
But her compromised stance was also a provocation, and Jacob bent down to pick her up and walk towards the bathroom.
