Chapter 57
LEO’S POV
I woke up to find the bed with only me on it. A sharp pain shot through my head when I tried to sit up and I frowned.
This was one of the reasons I hated to take moonwine. It made me look like and feel like a fool. I also hate to be out of control and that was exactly what drinking moonwine made me Jose last night. Control.
I looked at the side of my bed.
It made me lose my mate too.
The occurrences of last night came and my anger ignited like wildfire and I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms.
I had almost done something with Ivy and my mate walked in on us in an inappropriate position just because of someone’s carelessness.
But, was it really carelessness? Ivy was drunk too and somehow she left her room and came to mine. What were the odds?
I jumped out of my bed, got my phone and made a phone call. “Get the maid that gave me moonwine to my throne room. I need to interrogate her now.”
I freshened up and marched to my throne room and when I got there, the maid was already there. A warrior was standing behind her and immediately she saw me, she fell on her knees and placed her head in the ground. “Alpha, I had no idea I got -you moonwine. I just got your drink from the wine steward and brought it to you,”
“Shut up.” The warrior snarled. “Nobody asked you to speak.” He turned to me and bowed his head. “Alpha Leo, greetings”
I relaxed on my throne and c**d an eyebrow. The wine steward
“Yes, my Alpha. I have no intentions to get on your wrong side. It would be very foolish of me to give you moonwine directly if I wanted to get you drunk.”
She was right. My mind flickered to Ivy joining me in the bed. Perhaps, this maid was just a scapegoat. “So, did you notice anything unusual? Something that could point out the person behind the mistake.”
She looked hesitant at first, but she finally opened her mouth to talk. “Whenever I go to the cellar, I can pick whatever wine I want, but yesterday, when the wine steward heard I was going to bring the drinks to you, he got me a bottle himself. I thought he only wanted to get you, the Alpha, the best wine. I did not take note of the fact that they were similar bottles of the wine he gave me around, but he made sure I took the bottle he was keeping with me.”
“So, you’re saying that the wine steward gave you moonwine to give me on purpose.”
She shrugged. “I think so. I’m just saying what I noticed. He might be innocent.”
Or, Ivy might have bribed him to give me moonwine. As far as I was concerned, like Ivy portrayed to my mate, she was no damsel in distress. She definitely came here to trick me into sleeping with her. This was her first strike. I had to do something before she struck again.
“Leave,” I ordered the maid and she scurried away. “What about the maid that was accused of trying to poison the Luna and 1?” I asked the warrior and he looked lost for words. “Don’t tell me you all decided to just lock her up without investigating more like I had asked you all to. As far as I am concerned, she might not have had a hand in the poisoning.”
“We are trying our best, Alpha,” the warrior replied and I scoffed.
“Bring me the maid,” I ordered and he paled.

I cocked an eyebrow and decided to take note of the warrior before me. I knew almost all of my warriors, regardless of how much they were, but this one was not very familiar to me. He had a scar on the right side of his face. It was a long line running from the top of the right side of his face to his jaw.
“Stay back,” I said, stopping him in his tracks. I watched his face and noticed that he looked a little relaxed after I asked him to stay back.
I smirked. “Remain there.” I turned to a random guard and pointed to him. “You. Go. Bring me the maid,” I said and the warrior widened his eyes in alarm,
“Al-Alpha, I really need to use the toilet.”
I laughed. “You’re funny.”
“I-I am not joking.”
I shrugged casually. “Well, that is too bad. It should have been a joke. You’re definitely not leaving until I want you to leave.”
“But 1-
“I don’t care and you’re beginning to pi*** me off”
“Please, have mercy on me Alpha. I really need to use the toilet
He was lying. I knew because I was good at spotting a lie and this amateur was making it easy.
Fun fact, to make myself feel better, I like playing the game, off with his head. You’ll make me play my game if you pi*** me off too much.”
Fang snickered. He liked it whenever I was like this. And, to be sincere, I also liked tapping into my inner evil whenever I am with people who are evil or people who I suspect are.
The maid was finally brought to me. Unlike how I recalled how she was, her skin tone was grayish. Her eyes, cheeks and temples were sunken and her bones visible.
Of course, she was imprisoned for days and it was totally normal to have a glow down, but what I was seeing was too extreme. I could barely recognize her.
“Have you eaten?” I asked and I could see the flabby looks on everyone’s faces.
She shook her head slowly and mouthed the word, “no.”
“Why?”
“They want to starve me to death,” She said in a small voice and then, she began to cry. “I’m being punished for something I have no hand in.”
Trelaxed on my throne and for some reason I believed her. Like the other maid, this one was lvy’s scapegoat. “Weren’t you he one who brought the food to us?”
I did not get the food from the kitchen myself. Someone handed the food over and asked me to bring it to you”
“I
My stare shifted from the maid to the warrior. His head was bowed and I noticed how hard he was trying to avoid eye contact with the maid.
“You. I pointed to the warrior. Like I expected, everyone’s attention was on him, including the maid.
He quickly looked away, acting like he was not the one I was referring to.

“Stop looking away. Yourknow I’m talking to you,” I said and he owly looked in my direction.
“I recognize you,” the maid said at the top of her voice, pointing to the warrior. He is the one. He was the one who gave me the poisoned breakfast to bring to you”
Immediately, he dropped a smoke bomb to distract everyone and escape from the room. Everywhere was covered in smoke, but I relaxed on my throne and smirked.
In less than thirty seconds, one of my guards caught him and dropped him before my feet.
“I’ve caught you. Everyone knows that nobody can escape when head was bowed, so I slapped his face up so he could look at me. you, but I won’t make sure you won’t die.”
His eyes were glossed with tears now.
I snorted.
An imposter.
Ivy was definitely not the only person involved in this.
ught by me. I have to grant you freedom myself.” His Now that you’ve been caught, I won’t kill you. I’ll torture
‘You really have a lot of work
