Chapter 4 

When I went to try on the custom gown for the feast, I discovered that it had been swapped. The one in its place was of much poorer quality and noticeably several sizes too large for me. 

With the feast just one day away, I angrily called the pack seamstress to demand an explanation. 

“Luna Grant, I swear this wasn’t our mistake. Alpha Silan said he’d take the gown to inspect it, and later he mentioned a small detail needed adjusting, so we altered it and returned it to him. We don’t know what happened after that!” 

Suppressing my anger, I went to Silan’s quarters to confront him. When he saw me, he frowned. 

“Didn’t I tell you not to disturb me during pack business-” 

“Did you take my gown?” I cut him off. “The sales assistant said you picked it up for me to try on. I don’t 

recall asking you to do that.” 

He hesitated briefly before finally answering. 

“Flora didn’t have a formal attire for the Bloodmoon Pack feast, so I let her wear that one. Besides, didn’t I 

get you another one? It’s practically the same.” 

“Why make such a fuss? As long as it fits, it doesn’t matter.” 

I laughed bitterly and threw the rag–like gown onto his desk. 

“Are you talking about this piece of trash? If it’s so nice, why don’t you let Flora wear it instead?” 

His face darkened instantly, and his wolf growled softly. 

“Can you stop being so unreasonable? It’s just a dress–you have plenty. What’s wrong with sharing one 

with Flora?” 

“Do you have to act like a hysterical woman all the time? You’re supposed to be the wife of an Alpha, not 

some shrew.” 

Flora walked in just then, her eyes red as if she had been deeply wronged. 

“Silan, please don’t fight because of me. Here, I’ll return the dress to her.” 

She handed me a bag, and inside was my ceremonial pack gown. 

Silan shot me a cold glare and pulled her into his arms, his wolf nuzzling her in a show of protection.
