“Why not” I demanded tightening my grip on his forearm, he looked down to my hand clasping onto his muscular tanned, tattooed arm and then looked at me. 

“Circumstances” he replied. 

“Dez that’s not fair” I said like a child standing my ground, he didn’t respond he just looked at me expectantly waiting for me to let go. When he realized I wasn’t letting go anytime soon until I got what i wanted, his face changed and his pupils dilated. 

“I put up with your defiance earlier, but I will not put up with it now and I will be more than happy to put you in your place Kendal” he said lowly under his breath I felt like cowering away from him. The tone in his voice was deadly.

“I want to see him” I said despite my wolf telling me to back down. 

“No” 

“Dez I haven’t seen him in such a long ti-” 

“I don’t care” he stated grabbing my wrist prying my hand from his arm and then turning and leaving. As much as I hated it, that hurt. I bit down on my lip. 

He didn’t care. 

He sure did care earlier when he was biting into my neck, realization hit me like truck when I realized he was only doing that to get what he wanted out of me. Information.

He probably never did. And here I was about to cry over the fact that he didn’t care. That he never did. 

And this whole time I knew he didn’t. I knew he didn’t care, but I still clutched onto him. I still became. attached. I still tried to convince myself that he did. 

I made the bold impulsive decision to follow Dez. Dez didn’t care about me and that was fine. But my father did. And I was going to see whether Dez liked it or not. I followed his wonderful scent to his office and then rested my hand on the doorknob. 

I took a deep breath counted to three and turned the knob before I could overthink it and chicken out. I froze in the door way and all eyes went to me. My breath caught in my throat I didn’t know what to do. I ` didn’t actually expect to get this far.

I saw my dad there sitting in a chair across from my mate. His face hardened. 

He looked older, he was about 6,5 and thin but packing a lot of muscle. His hair was curly but cut short and his eyes were my green but a shade darker. He had a straight nose leading to his strong jawline. My dad was handsome. 

He stood up so quick, his chair fell back and he was across the room before Dez could blink. I felt a small bit of satisfaction on the fact that my dad had somehow gotten to me before Dez. Of course the second my father got within touching distance Dez grabbed his shirt from behind and yanked him back, turning him around and slamming him into the wall. 

I let out a small scream the impact of my father’s body hitting wall scared me. They were both growling. Michael came to me and grabbed my arm pulling me back moving his hand up to hide my face and I realized he was doing this because Dez was about kill him.
