Chapter 57
“You went into shock earlier” he said. I went into shock earlier. Was he saying what I thought he was?
“It wasn’t a dream?” I breathed, he looked confused and annoyed as I put the pieces together. It wasn’t a dream. I hadn’t been dreaming. Dez had really told me he cared about me. It hadn’t been a dream. I scrambled up and flung myself at him wrapping my arms around him tightly probably squishing him tightly.
I remembered he didn’t like physical contact and immediately let go backing away.
“S–sorry” I said looking down at the floor. There was an awkward silence.
“Go take a shower” he said lowly before leaving. I did as told and went and took a shower, letting my thoughts take over. I thought about Dez admitting he cared about me, and how this would change us if it did at all, and my dad cheating on my mom.
Had my dad and moms relationship been bad? I thought they both loved each other, I don’t remember
any fights or anything. I thought more and then got out and pulled on some sweat pants and a t–shirt. I went to the kitchen and Dez was there drinking coffee.
“Your father is coming over for breakfast, with your sister” he stated, watching my reaction carefully. I knew he thought he was just telling me the news but, I already knew. I nodded and started getting stuff
out to make breakfast, for all of us. As I was cooking I could feel his presence behind me he leaned against
the cabinet his arms crossed over his chest.
“You already knew?” he questioned, I nodded keeping my eyes on my food. I finished about the time there was a knock on the door, I looked at Dez as I set the table he looked back, I realized he wasn’t going to get it and I was stupid for thinking he actually would. I sighed and went and opened the door. It was my dad with a woman I had never seen before at his side. I glowered at him, and then turned my glare
towards the woman, she wore an excited smile.
I studied her, she had short blonde hair and grey eyes, she was pretty, she gave me a bright smile and
reached her arms out.
“Kendal” she said happily wrapping her arms around me, I tensed up. Who the hell was this woman and why was she touching me? I heard a loud growl and felt Dez shoving her off me, he pushed me behind him, I sighed in relief at him saving me. I relaxed behind him.
“You don’t touch her” he told her gruffly, eyeing her.
“Right. Sorry Alpha Collins I was just so overwhelm-”
“I don’t care” I stated cutting her off shaking his head, I bit my lip smiling, she raised an eyebrow like she

had never heard someone talk to her with disrespect. I looked down trying to keep my smile from showing, Dez glanced back at me seeing my grin, he gave me a disapproving look. I cleared my throat, wiping my smile away.
“Who’re you?” I blurted out at her eyeing her more stepping to stand beside Dez, the scent radiating off him was slightly distracting. She looked to my dad with a small smile that I figured was permanent, I realized the look in her eyes. And then noticed the shade.
Grey. Like Kendal’s.
