Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 298

I waited for an hour on the couch in the living room before the door swung open and Eric walked in with a calm expression. In response to my inquiring look, Eric walked over and sat beside me.

"What happened?" I asked, turning to him with a subtle hint of expectation in my gaze.

Eric took out his phone and handed it to me, saying, "I added her on WhatsApp."

I checked his phone and saw that they had indeed added each other on WhatsApp. I immediately asked in surprise, "How did that happen?"

Upon seeing Eric's reaction earlier, I thought Monica had successfully passed the first test.

Eric shrugged, leaned back on the couch, and sighed, saying, "I didn't even do anything. You had suddenly stormed out, so Josh asked me what happened. I merely told him that we had an argument. I barely said anything else, but right before I left, Monica suddenly made her move and added me on WhatsApp."

Upon hearing that, I asked in surprise, "You mean Josh was there too? How could she act so brazenly in front of him?"

Eric pursed his lips in response and explained, "Yes, Josh was present too. He didn't notice anything amiss, though. Monica played it off perfectly, saying that she added me on WhatsApp just so she could integrate herself better into the Flint family. Her explanation sounded pretty impeccable."

I nodded in agreement, thinking that Monica's reasoning was indeed impeccable. I then murmured, "It's possible that she genuinely means it."

I had just said that when Eric's phone suddenly lit up with a notification. I could tell from the lock screen that it was a message from Monica.

Upon unlocking the phone, Monica's message came into view. "Did you get home safely, Mr. Flint? How is Ms. Brown?"

Eric looked at me with a troubled expression, appearing reluctant to respond to Monica's message.

I smiled helplessly, took the phone, and replied. "I just got home, and she's fine."
