Chapter 55 Entrustment
Mom said, “We were talking about Jae’s business plans earlier. If she runs into any trouble in the future, you must make sure to take good care of her That way, we’ll be able to rest easy!”
I couldn’t help but twitch my lips. The way they were acting made it feel like they were handing me over to Eric. I quickly walked over and exchanged a
look with En
He picked up on my signal and nodded to my parents. “Don’t worry, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, I’ll make sure to take care of Jane. If she ever runs into any problems, I’ll help without hesitation.”
I stared at him in surprise. I had signaled him to explain things, but he was making things even more complicated.
Seeing my parents‘ smiles widening with satisfaction, I knew that they had misunderstood the situation.
Seeing that the situation was going awry, I quickly got them to their feet. “Alright, Mom and Dad. It’s getting late. You should head home now, I’ll visit you when I have time!”
After seeing my parents off, I returned to the living room.
Eric was lounging comfortably on the couch with one hand propping up his face as he looked at me leisurely. “Are you planning to start a business?”
I nodded. Feeling awkward after the earlier situation, I spoke up, “You don’t have to take what my parents said too seriously. They’re just worried that it my business fails, it might discourage me, so they asked someone with experience to give me a word of advice.”
Eric raised an eyebrow before standing up and slowly walking toward me. His tall figure loomed over me, and I could almost smell the cool, woody fragrance of his cologne, causing me to lose focus for a moment.
“Even if they hadn’t said anything, I would’ve still helped you if you got into trouble. I’ve always been open with you.”
He leaned in, his warm breath brushing across my face, making my heartbeat quicken involuntarily.
