West Street Bistro.
Alicia followed the GPS and found Vincent. When she entered the private dining room, the young girl still hadn’t arrived.
It was obvious Vincent had lured Alicia here on purpose, hoping for a chance to be alone with her.
Alicia sat as far from him as possible, eyes fixed on her phone, silent.
Vincent’s irritation was clear. Frowning, he watched her keep her distance. “What, do you think I’m going to bite? Sit over here.”
Alicia ignored him.
“Alicia…” Vincent’s voice softened into a weary, almost pleading tone. “Can we please not do this today?”
Still, Alicia wouldn’t look at him. Whatever Vincent said, she stayed in her own world, pretending not to hear.
Vincent drew a deep breath. She used to be so gentle with him—now, she was nothing but infuriating.
He finally got up and walked over, settling into the chair beside her.
She tried to move away, but Vincent caught her by the wrist.
“Look at this.” He pulled out his phone, holding up photos and videos of Tyrone and Serena. “He’s going to marry Serena eventually. The only reason Maddox won’t let it happen now is because of Nicole. Maddox is old—how much longer do you think he’ll be around? Tyrone is using you to distract Maddox and shield Serena from all the gossip and attacks. The moment the old man is gone, you and Tyrone will get a divorce, and he’ll marry Serena.”
Alicia stared at the pictures. Even though she knew her role was just that of a contractual wife, a faint ache tightened in her chest.
