Mina took a deep breath, steadied herself, and glanced toward the entrance.
Nicole had arrived.
As the sole heir of the White family, Nicole was bound to become the center of attention—even if Reginald hadn’t thrown her an official welcome-home party yet.
Mina smiled and moved forward to greet her, putting on a show of sisterly affection with an embrace that was just a little too staged. She made sure the onlookers—especially those waiting to see her slip up—were watching. “This is Miss White, the only daughter of the family,” she announced with a bright smile. “We’re the best of friends.”
Jade, who’d usually be handling Nicole, was currently dealing with her own problems thanks to Tyrone and couldn’t make it to Seaview City. So that job—keeping an eye on Nicole—had fallen to Mina.
Nicole slipped her arm through Mina’s and let herself be guided into the crowd. Mina planned to use Nicole’s presence to boost her own standing tonight.
As expected, people immediately clustered around them, eager to get close to the White Corporation’s future heiress.
After all, once Reginald passed away, everything the Whites owned would land squarely in Nicole’s lap.
“Miss White, I have to say—I envy you so much. You’re incredibly lucky.”
“That’s right, the entire White Corporation will be yours. The future of the family rests with you.”
Nicole lifted her chin, pride flickering across her face. She caught sight of Tyrone across the room and, with a delighted gasp, broke away to run toward him. “Tyrone!”
Alicia was standing with Tyrone and a few company executives, deep in conversation, when Nicole barreled over.
As Tyrone’s “sugar baby,” Alicia’s first instinct was to protect her benefactor. She stepped in front of Nicole, blocking her path.
Nicole shot Alicia a glare. “Who do you think you are, stopping me? He’s my fiancé—we’re getting married sooner or later.”
