That day, Alicia was over the moon—not just because she’d managed to put Nicole and Mina in their place, but more importantly, because Tyrone was willing to help pave the way for her career. He was ready to be the stepping stone she needed to climb higher.
The four years she’d spent with Vincent felt like another lifetime. Vincent never really cared about her education, nor did he ever consider supporting her professional ambitions. Even forcing her into the Lynch Corporation, he only wanted her as his personal assistant, doing thankless, menial tasks with zero real value.
Vincent never once thought she could shine in her own field.
Maybe he didn’t want her to shine. After all, if she did, she’d grow stronger, more independent—maybe even strong enough to leave.
For Vincent, the perfect Alicia was a sweet, docile little bunny. Ideally, she’d always rely on him, need him—content to be caged by his side.
But Tyrone was different.
Even if their marriage was a contract, Tyrone respected her. He trusted her, no questions asked. He helped her, willingly—almost eager to be the foundation she stepped on to reach her dreams.
On the way home, Alicia couldn’t help herself. She looked at Tyrone, eyes sparkling. “Tyrone, can I kiss you?”
She was so giddy that day—even drinking bottled water made her feel a little tipsy.
Up front, their driver quietly raised the privacy screen between the back and front seats.
Reality snapped Alicia back to her senses. She’d forgotten someone else was driving. Instantly, her face turned scarlet; she wished she could just disappear into the seat.
Tyrone grinned and reached for her, pulling her into his arms. “If you’re going to tease me, at least follow through. Don’t leave me hanging.”
Alicia’s cheeks were still burning as she nestled against him, breathing in his scent, her heart pounding.
After a moment, she met his gaze and gently pressed her lips to his—a soft, fleeting kiss.
Tyrone raised an eyebrow, clearly unsatisfied. “That’s it? You call that a kiss?”
Alicia blinked at him in confusion, her innocent, clear eyes utterly disarming.
Unable to resist, Tyrone cupped her cheek and kissed her again—this time, properly.
