Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 270

“Grandpa, you’re overthinking this,” Easton said, his tone steady. “When my dad signed that agreement giving up everything connected to the Lynch family, he was an adult. Adults have to take responsibility for their choices. He can’t just change his mind now that the Lynch family’s doing well. There’s no such thing as a magic ‘undo’ button for life, right?”

His words caught the old man off guard; he hadn’t expected to be cornered by a teenager.

“I don’t know exactly what happened back then, or why my dad signed away his rights and ran off to that little fishing village by the sea. But he made his decision, and he has to live with it. I’m his son, and I have both the confidence and the means to take care of him. You don’t need to worry about his future. Honestly, fretting over this will only hurt Tyrone. He’s the one who grew up with you, and he’s the one you should be focusing on.”

In Easton’s eyes, the old man’s worries about Marcus were misplaced. Anyone could see that Tyrone had never accepted Marcus, and Marcus hadn’t exactly been a father to him, either. Easton understood why Tyrone rejected Marcus’s return; setting everything else aside, the fact that Marcus had never raised him was reason enough for Tyrone to keep him out of the Lynch family.

It was almost laughable that, after all these years, the old man still didn’t see things as clearly as a nineteen-year-old.

“You’re still young,” the old man sighed. “There are things you don’t understand about Reginald’s intentions. It’s not as simple as you think… The story goes back to the Lynch family’s past…”

What truly worried him wasn’t that Tyrone would shut Marcus out after he was gone—the real issue was that he’d been the only one holding Tyrone back all these years. Tyrone didn’t dare move against Marcus while he was still alive.

But once he was gone—if Tyrone inherited the Lynch family’s power, with his temperament and abilities—Marcus would be as good as dead.

“You don’t know Tyrone,” the old man said, his voice hushed as he fixed Easton with a serious gaze. “Did you ever hear how your father’s first wife—Tyrone’s birth mother—died? Tyrone killed her with his own hands. If he could do that to his own mother, what makes you think that, even if you don’t compete for the Lynch family’s fortune, he’ll show you any mercy once I’m gone?”

Easton stared at him, frozen in shock, searching the old man’s face for answers.

Tyrone… killed his own mother?

“I… I don’t understand,” Easton stammered, his voice trembling.

He needed to know the truth.

Just outside the door, Tyrone stood rigid, his knuckles white as his hands clenched so tightly that veins bulged beneath his skin. His gaze grew colder and darker with every word he overheard.

He’d originally been willing to turn a blind eye to Marcus hiding from the Lynch family. But if the old man was this guarded against him… then he’d have no reason to hold back.
