Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 293

Marcus felt a twinge of guilt. As a father, it was embarrassing to have his son taking care of everything for him. Still, he didn’t see anything shameful about it. Sons were supposed to be useful—it was only natural.

Besides, as long as Easton agreed to marry Nicole, everything the White family and the Lynch family owned would one day belong to him. When that time came, Marcus could go on enjoying his carefree life without a worry.

“So, Easton, how’s school going? Settling into the international program alright?” Marcus asked, trying to sound casual.

“It’s going fine, Dad. But I only agreed to enroll in the international program because I want to study abroad—to build a stronger résumé. I’m not doing this to compete with my brother over the family business.” Easton met his father’s gaze, hoping to kill that idea once and for all.

Marcus bristled but pressed on, his tone coaxing and exasperated. “Are you out of your mind with all this studying? The Lynch Corporation and the White family—these are huge assets! All you have to do is marry a nice girl, and it’s all yours. You—”

“If it’s such a great deal, why did you run from it, Dad?” Easton cut him off, his voice sharp. “Didn’t you have an arranged marriage with my brother’s mom?”

Marcus froze, his face darkening. Clearly, that was not a chapter he cared to revisit. “That’s different,” he muttered. “I went through with it, didn’t I? How was I supposed to know I’d end up married to a lunatic? That woman nearly drove me insane.”

He cursed under his breath, his bitterness spilling over. “She was crazy, I swear!”

“Was she really mentally ill, or did you just push her over the edge?” Easton’s voice was weary. He wasn’t sure of the truth, but with a father like Marcus, he wouldn’t be surprised if a weaker person had lost their mind long ago.

Marcus’s expression grew uglier, his pride clearly stung. Suddenly furious, he snatched up a spatula and swung it at Easton.

Easton dodged, frowning but staying silent.

From the next room, Valery’s coughs echoed, punctuated by her angry shouts. She called Marcus a useless fool, asking why he always resorted to violence.
