Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 303

When Tyrone was a child, he didn’t hate his mother. In fact, he almost pitied her. He never called her “Mom,” but he never wished her harm, either.

No matter how many times she hurt him, he simply told himself to endure it a little longer—that things would get better once he grew up.

But the abuse only escalated.

Whenever Marcus stayed out all night, she’d record videos of herself hurting Tyrone and send them to him.

When Marcus was out carousing with other women, she’d force Tyrone to kneel in the living room for hours.

More than once, if Grandfather hadn’t arrived just in time, Tyrone might not have survived.

Grandfather wanted to take Tyrone away, but his mother refused.

“If everyone in this family is crazy,” she said, “then Tyrone has to be crazy too. He has to suffer like the rest of us.”

Eventually, Marcus brought one of his mistresses home. That was the final straw—his mother snapped.

She grabbed a kitchen knife in a fit of rage and stabbed Marcus’s lover to death. Then, wild-eyed, she turned on Tyrone.

Young as he was, Tyrone sobbed and pleaded with her to stop, but all he saw in her eyes was murderous intent.

She stabbed him. And maybe, in that moment, some sliver of maternal instinct finally broke through. She collapsed into tears, and, with the last shred of her sanity, pressed the bloody knife into Tyrone’s hands. “Tyrone, save me… please, save me,” she begged.

“Save me, Tyrone…”

For years afterward, the image of his mother—covered in blood, wailing for Tyrone to rescue her—haunted his nightmares.

She was already lost to madness, unable to control her emotions or actions. Death, for her, was the only escape.

She gripped her son’s hand around the knife, guided the tip to her chest, and begged him to end her suffering.
