Vincent frowned at Tyrone. “I never pegged you for someone so naive.”

The two of them had grown up in entirely different worlds, shaped by contrasting upbringings and surroundings. Naturally, their outlooks on life—and their personalities—couldn’t have been more distinct.

In Vincent’s eyes, Tyrone’s behavior right now was nothing short of laughable.

Tyrone didn’t bother to argue. In fact, he was a bit surprised that Vincent hadn’t seized the opportunity to kick him while he was down.

“Tyrone, I hear you’ve started your own business recently. If you’re running into any trouble, just say the word. We’re all happy to help.” Another group of insincere well-wishers wandered over.

These were the same people who used to greet Tyrone with a respectful “Mr. Lynch” at every encounter. Now, they addressed him by his first name—probably just a few days away from calling him “Ty.”

Alicia had to stifle a laugh. These people were truly shameless. If only they knew that Tyrone was actually the man behind Evercrest Group—wouldn’t they be so regretful they’d lose their appetites for days?

When Alicia looked like she couldn’t hold it in anymore, Tyrone gave her arm a gentle tug, silently warning her to keep up the act.

She lowered her head and clung tightly to his arm. To anyone watching, she looked heartbroken, not on the verge of laughter.

Vincent, misreading the scene, assumed Alicia was upset. He shot the group an icy glare. “If Tyrone really wanted to start a business, do you think he’d need your help?”

The group shrank back, embarrassed. Not wanting to cross Vincent, they quickly made themselves scarce.

“Are you feeling all right?” Tyrone looked at Vincent, half-amused.

“I just don’t want her to be upset,” Vincent snapped, his temper barely in check.

Tyrone let out a cold laugh. “Oh, sure. My child’s gone and now you want to play the hero? She’s my wife. Spare me your concern.” With that, he led Alicia away.

Vincent stood there, seething, but powerless. All he really wanted was to make things right with Alicia—but she clearly wasn’t interested in giving him that chance.
