“Is she trying to go after you? She seems pretty polite to you,” Alicia whispered, at least not kicking him while he was down.
Tyrone arched a brow. “You think a woman who knows I have a wife—who’s standing right next to me, no less—yet still struts around like she has a real shot at breaking up my marriage is a decent person?”
Alicia nodded, the realization dawning on her face. “You’re right. Definitely not someone worth trusting.”
“Tyrone.”
Just as Tyrone was about to enjoy a rare moment of peace with Alicia—and maybe see if anyone genuinely wanted to work with him—he spotted Mina and Jade approaching.
Jade had driven in all the way from Harboridge, clearly intent on making Tyrone’s life difficult. She’d had her fair share of trouble with him over the years. Back when her father had finally convinced the old man to hand Nicole’s engagement over to her so that she could marry Tyrone, he’d shot her down with a single sentence.
“I don’t marry the daughter of a bastard,” he’d told her, leaving her utterly humiliated.
Because of that one remark, Jade hadn’t been able to show her face in Harboridge’s elite circles for three years. She’d hated Tyrone for it, but she’d feared him too—he was, after all, the CEO of Lynch Corp, with more power than most people could dream of.
Jade knew, until she and her father had full control of the White family, she couldn’t afford to make an enemy of Tyrone. If he ever decided to retaliate, she and Brandon White wouldn’t stand a chance.
But now? Now Tyrone was no longer the Lynch heir. Out of nowhere, the family had produced an Easton Lynch.
Ha. You couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.
“Tyrone, I heard Maddox kicked you out of the Lynch family. Must be rough, huh?” Jade said loudly, her voice carrying to the curious onlookers.
“That’s right, Mr. Lynch,” Alvera chimed in, suddenly finding herself on the same side as Jade. “You’re down and out, but you’re still acting all high and mighty.”
Mina smirked from the sidelines. “Mr. Lynch, didn’t I tell you ages ago that if you ever left Alicia, or lost your position, I’d show her what hell looks like?”
