Chapter 101 Sign It
“Maren, this is outrageous! Morgan Group isn’t a toy to be handed off to a young girl like you!” one of the
shareholders snapped, beating Ashton to the punch.
“I’m simply taking back what’s rightfully mine. Why is that your concern?” Maren fired back coolly.
“How can you say that? We’re shareholders in Morgan Group!”
The shareholders were infuriated.
Technically, the portion Maren was reclaiming didn’t come from their holdings. But that wasn’t the main issue. The crux was the sheer volume–forty percent. When added to the ten percent the Thorpe family once held, it
meant she’d control half the corporation.
That would place her at the top of the hierarchy–her influence would outweigh anyone else’s. She’d have the
final word.
Most of them doubted she had the chops to manage a corporation. If she fumbled, their own fortunes would take a hit. Many had long relied on Morgan Group’s payouts to support their privileged lifestyles.
“Maren, this business impacts countless lives. You can’t treat it like some personal vendetta,” someone warned
sharply.
“Exactly!” another echoed. “Sure, you’re the ex–chairman’s blood, but he’s been gone a long time. Ashton’s run the company since then, and he’s kept it stable. No scandals. No disasters.”
“You’re just a girl meddling where you don’t belong.”
The voices of dissent grew louder.
No way were they going to let someone they saw as inexperienced take over the company. Impossible!
Cullum interjected, “Maren, just because you beat the dean doesn’t make you some prodigy. Running a business isn’t like sparring in a ring. You’re a novice here, so of course no one’s going to back you.”
“That’s right!” others backed him up.
“How amusing. You think I need your blessing?” She yanked a chair towards the table, took a seat, and tossed a share reassignment document on the table. “If you’d rather not be part of this company, speak up. I’ll buy every share you’re willing to sell. Now leave.”
The bold declaration left the whole room stunned.
They thought their seniority would intimidate her. Instead, she met them with unwavering defiance.
“Maren! That’s no way to speak to us!” someone barked, visibly offended.
She had just insulted nearly every shareholder in the room. Even Ashton never dared take such a tone.

And Maren? They never regarded her as anything serious. So who did she think she was?
“My demeanor isn’t your concern. I’m here to reclaim my inheritance. I didn’t request your input, and I
certainly don’t need your consent.”
Maren’s voice stayed composed, but her intent was clear–she didn’t come to negotiate.
Furious, Cullum slammed his palm on the table. “Maren, you-”
“You’re irrelevant. You don’t even own a stake. This is a closed–door session. You have no standing here!”
Maren cut him off.
Cullum was livid. He now saw it plainly–Maren had no intention of backing down. She didn’t care about their
egos.
They thought strength in numbers would rattle her. But Maren wasn’t playing by their rules.
Without glancing at them again, Maren slid the signed contract across Ashton’s desk.
“Dad, go ahead. Sign it,” she said, handing over a pen.
Ashton sat in silence. He hadn’t said a word–not because he was calm, but because he was desperately trying
to contact Dick.
Whether Maren was bluffing or had truly forgotten what happened just now didn’t matter. As long as he had
that recording, he still had leverage.
But to his frustration, Dick was nowhere to be found and hadn’t replied to him yet.
“Maren, let’s take a step back…” Ashton began, stalling.
“You didn’t forget what happened last night, did you? Need me to bring out the footage?” Maren asked.
Ashton had been ready to speak, but Maren’s words cut him off before he could even start.
He had planned to use the clip as ammunition if she lost to Daniel. It was filled with condemnation–portraying
himself as the struggling father making the tough call for the greater good.
But Maren had won. And now, the same footage would send a different message, framing him as a cruel, petty
